Title: G05-802 TIS98/TPS98 cross reference
Post by: Kevin Mullins on April 01, 2009, 10:07:08 pm
Q602 and Q603 specifically.

Could someone please confirm if the NTE123AP is a "drop in"
replacement for the TIS98 ?
When I look at the datasheets for each they seem to be backwards from
eachother.
One is B C E and the other looks to be E C B...... so I don't want to
put one in orientated like the old one was if it actually backwards.

The deflection pcb itself has one labeled EBC and the other marked
CEB .....even though they should be identical..... so now I'm just
more confused.
Enlighten me please.

EDIT:
OK..... the schematic shows TIS98, but I've look at two deflection
boards and they both actually have TPS98 's.
The TPS98 crosses to an NTE194, but the leg orientation is still an
issue between chassis layout and transistor layout.

So I guess I still need some form of confirmation or insight.

the fairchild tis98 is cbe  ,  the ECG/NTE 123ap is ebc ( just reverse it )
http://pdf1.alldatasheet.co.kr/datasheet-pdf/view/54805/FAIRCHILD/TIS98.html

in circuit, if the max Vcbo is below 40v. just use a 2n3904/2n4400,1
rather than an over priced nte 123ap    ;)

See.... that's exactly what I was thinking.
But the net, and the NTE cross reference, all says that's a replacement.

But no one ever mentioned it need to be turned backwards, which is what I was seeing.

I was also looking at crosses for the TPS98 which crossed to an NTE194...... same issue though.

ECG usually had a note referencing basing differences.
as long as the proper lead goes into the corresponding pcb location , part mounting can be altered within a degree
of reason

and really, ecg/sk/nte subs are usually MORE money than the original

Yeah I know... just sometimes easier to order if they are available form one location that I'm ordering other stuff from.
And some of these are getting into that "obsolete" realm. (not completely yet though)
