Title: XBOX DIY Arcade Stick HELP and Suggestions
Post by: kandiman on March 31, 2009, 03:26:12 am
Hey all, going to build a arcade stick out of an official xbox 360 wired controller, i will take pictures of the PCB once i get them tomorrow, there will be 2 PCBs.

At the moment i have these parts

6 sanwa 30mm obsf buttons ------  main buttons
2 sanwa 24mm buttons    ----------  start and xbox guide/home
1 sanwa joystick JLF-TP-8YT  ------  joystick has mounting plate attached
1 sanwa joystick Harness    -------  quick connect/disconnect harness for Sanwa JLF joysticks

also bought a bunch of these quick connect wires

These are the 2 versions of the PCBs which alot of you guys have seen

Based on my parts and the PCB that i get (could be both the early and late version), may someone help me out with a sketch diagram for the hookup of the wires from the buttons to the PCB?

What iv'e read the common ground PCB should/can be daisy chained? no idea how the daisy chain business works.

Any input or suggestions will be awesome  ;D ... please don't flame me and say "search" the forums first  :timebomb:

Welcome to the forum.

Well I suppose your expecting this, but seriously, search!

If you took two minutes to search or look around you would see this thread right at the top of the consoles sub-forum

> [Xbox 360 Controller Hack Tutorial -- Wireless Hack Now Available!!! (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=64050.0)] <

You will find most of what you need in there. Have a good read and then come back if you have any questions.

 ;D

Yeah, take a look at my tutorial.  While for an Xbox 360 pad, the method is still basically the same.

Daisy chaining means you connect all of the microswitches ground/common terminals together and then attach the linked wire to the common ground on your pad. Kinda like this:

This isn't a control pad but its the same principle. You can see all of the ground/common terminals are linked together whereas the NO (normally open) terminal from each microswitch is attached to a separate input.

Its a good idea to make the chained grounds into a full loop, that way if you ever have a single ground fail the pad will still function.
