Title: Need some direction on creating a Mala Layout
Post by: ratabase1 on March 30, 2009, 07:56:34 pm
Hi, I'm new to using MALA, and am taking a stab at creating a layout to use with my Galaga Cocktail I will be making.  I was wanting to incorporate a graphic of my control panel in my layout, and show the buttons that correspond to each game (maybe grey out the unused buttons), along with the corresponding joystick directions.   Is there any good write ups on how to do this?

Also, while I was on the internet at lunch today, I came across some button graphics, and the top of a joystick, that could be used in making control panel pics.  However, I was at work, and didn't think to save them.  Does anyone know a good site, (or posting on here), that has these types of graphics?

Thanks.

download cpwizard, besides showing your controls for games it also has a lot of graphics in its media folder

Yeah, seriously, CPWizard is what you want.  You recreate all your buttons' positions into an image and add label fields to them.  Depending on what game you play, the labels change accordingly.

Theres also a image builder feature.  On my cab, I built an image for every game I have available.  The arrows around the joy changes and the inactive  buttons fade out.  These images are placed in a custom box on the FE.  When you hit pause, a recreation of my CP pops up with "jump", "fire", "bomb" ect. over the corresponding buttons.

Theres also a ton of button and joy pics included with the app.
