Title: RandyT, is this you?

Hope it is....

TRON Replacement handle on eBay with GGG pic and Description (http://cgi.ebay.com/Replacement-Handle-for-TRON-Arcade-Machines_W0QQitemZ220386695237QQihZ012QQcategoryZ13718QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

I doubt it is.

Funny thing is they included the pic with the GGG watermark URL on. If the people who view the auction have any sense they will go to GGG and see you can get them for $25.  ::)

They even ripped off Randy's description..... I really doubt this is Randy, so I sent them an "inquiry" message.

I don't think it is. I recall one of the sellers, either Randy or Andy, mentioning that they don't use eBay as a seller.

Besides, if you look at his profile and history, he's just a opportunistic seller. He's got so many wares spread across so many different interests that it can't be anything else and it's certainly not Randy. He just takes advantage of lazy eBayers. I can't decide if I want to say poo on him for stealing Randy's content or poo on the buyers for not researching their purchases.

This is a bigtime scumbag move to profit on some else's good will and hard work. What an a-hole!  :timebomb:   :bat

Yeah, I browsed through their stuff and that was the impression I got as well.

So, is this eBay "Powerseller" selling these at a big mark-up and then just drop-shipping from GGG to the customer?

Man, that's wrong on sooooo many levels.

Worse yet, he's hotlinked the pics from Randy's site.  If I was Randy, there'd be some picture changing on my agenda tonight.

Yeah, let's hope RandyT puts a hurt on this guy with some new images.

I reported it to Randy this morning... he added the watermark afterward.  I suggested some GOATSE but he said he had that image linked to too many different places.  I then suggested he change the watermark to read "$24.95 @ www.groovygamegear.com".

With a little server side scriptfoo, one could have the server look for requests with an eBay referral then server up some goatse only to those. Me personally, I would've done Goatse, but that's just as effective and it'll get him more business. Good for him to take the high road.

Yeah, no GOATSE! I think *I* might be hotlinking it on the news page somewhere. Normally I don't do that but on an established vendor like GGG I might have.

Just wanted to chime in here and say that it is absolutely not me conducting this auction, not "drop shipping" anything for this individual, nothing of the sort.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to alert me to this situation.  I'm not happy about it, but I think the watermark will have the desired effect.

RandyT

"Bidding has ended for this item" ...... and no response from the seller to my e-mail dang-it.

I asked a question "Isn't this the joystick available for $25 directly from groovygamegear.com?" but questions weren't public on the auction.  :(

Well, wasn't he in violation of ebay policy? Why didn't anyone report it?

No violation that I'm aware of. He was selling a product, not intellectual property. It was a ripoff price and in poor taste, but not in violation of any policy I think.

Doesn't look as if there were any bids, so perhaps all who viewed were the wiser.

He has lots of overpriced items in his store. I am sending him offers of between $1 and $3 on all of his stuff. Maybe he will accidentally accept one of them.  :dunno Yeah, I'm bored.

I asked him a question as follows.

Why would I buy this from you when I could go to Groovy Game Gear and buy one for $24.99? That's where you got this one from.

I didn't get any answer though.

Meh, I say let the guy have his "fun". Anyone with half a brain will google an item they see of interest anyways, even if it is just for more info or price comparison. I have a feeling this guy actually boosted Randy's page count a bit and maybe even got GGG some extra customers.

Although it may sound harsh, but I find it hard to feel sympathy for anyone who may have bought through this guys auction. Anyone who doesnt know what google is, is asking for a penalty. On a related note: maybe randy should set up some of these questionable auctions just to drive more people to his site... or not...

EDIT: WOOT! My post count now equals the number of KB on a formated Amiga double density disk!   (The previous comment is only directed at fellow Amiga fans)

At least wait until Randy sells out and the value of these handles goes up naturally! :dizzy:
