When I saw Pixelhugger's control panel in the logo forum I almost fell out of my chair.

:o
Thats a work of art.
How did he achive the finish on the lid ? is it stenciled, painted, printed ?
How can I achive such greatness ;D

He printed artwork on quality paper and covered with a sheet of either plexiglass or Lexan (same stuff but harder). It's a plastic despite what the name implies.

Yes that really is one nice looking controller. I took the same approach with mine, take a look at my site in the diary section for details/photos of how it all goes together. Only thing I didn't do was polish the hole in the plexi where the trackball is, wish I had as that's a really nice finishing touch.

Thanks for the kind words! :D The overlay was printed on a 6 color photo inkjet (Epson 1270). I used Epson's premium luster archival paper (or something like that) in roll form (the panel is 31" wide) Its basically a very high grade photo paper with a textured matte finish. Took about half an ink cartridge! I've been really pleased with the results, tho.
Downside to all that is the fact that I've changed the look for my (still in the planning stages) cabinet...so I've got to redesign and print it all over again. Ah, well....the journey is the destination with this stuff.
The plastic is 1/4" lexan. And as I've posted before...I highly recommend the polishing, at least on this 1/4" thick stuff.
