Title: Weird monitor happenings
Post by: Ummon on March 27, 2009, 08:32:59 pm
I dunno....first the Mitsubishi monitor decides to work after sitting for a spell, now both my Sony PVM monitor work too! I mean, I know that one of them was screwed up because it only displayed these weird blue and red dots, just a few of them, that would turn to diagonally-skewed line if I messed with the H and V pots.

But, after sitting for a few months, now they both work. I don't even remember which one was messed up, and the only reason I took 'em out was to find which one was and get rid of it. So, good news that the bad one now works. Bad news in that I don't have that extra space. Ah well, I guess I can't complain. Heheh.

Oh, and something of interest: with S-video, I found I got the sharpest picture running 1024x768, vs VGA or SVGA. Flicker wasn't bad. I still haven't checked out the analog input, because I haven't gotten a 20-pin header to hack onto. And, of course, the reds suffered a lot with S-vid, and vectors looked like ass, but I'm looking at trying out an ATI card to see good it might get.

Hrmmm with wierd issues like that I would say it could be the power supply / flyback. The other wierd issues could also be cold solder. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the huge redblock on these thing die all the time which give all sorts of weird issues. I was able to find em a while ago from sony for around $40 if I remember right.

I noticed that. Thanks. I'm just so lazy. I'dve done it if I had one on hand. Although, I have no cabs to put them in....
