I've searched on this topic everywhere, and I'm sure it's come up no less than six million times, but I have this question:
How can I make it so when I push "ESC", NESticle quits, instead of brining up that godforsaken GUI? Can I remap keys somehow, or is there a "FE" version floating around somewhere?
Please let me and the other children with this question know.
Many thanks,
Zach

This gets asked in the software thread every now and then... (i'm a lurker of that board) and it seems that people are using VirtuaNes instead of Nesticle because you can change its .ini file so that esc will exit the emulator.
You can search that board for the exact answer...
I just installed it and VirtuaNes seems to work alright. I guess I have a bunch of crappy dumps (heh heh) or something cause it doesn't like a lot of my games.

If you are super intent on using nesticle maybe the use of one of Howard's wrappers www.oscarcontrols.com/lazarus/
will do the trick...

Or you could use Girder to simulate the command.
(Kinda complicated though)

If i were you I would look into a different NES emu than Nesticle. It is not the best emu out there anymore. It hasnt been for a long time. Try Virtual NES. The only good thing about Nesticle is that it runs very well on a older slow machine.

Jackobud,
Good call on Vnes. WOW!!! It's a totally different experience than nesticle. My favorite Nes so far.

Okay, I've converted: I'm running VirtualNES now, too. However, it does something equally annoying. When I launch certain (most) games, I get this (poorly worded) error message:
"Because NES header is illegal, there can be the thing that does not work normally. Do execute?"
Does anyone know of a way to disable this, perhaps in the VirtualNES.ini file?

I just installed VirtuaNes and it runs great flicker free using ArcadeVGA card full screen.
I couldent remap ESC in the programm control setup but instead used P1 button 6 to quit.
Are you sure you can remap Esc to quit in the ini file?. I will double check next time I hook up cab.
