Title: The Portable Big Screen Unit... Port-a-MAME??
Post by: Games001 on March 26, 2009, 10:49:39 pm
Well, its 95% done.. but I do have some pics of it after the initial box was built.

A Portable Unit on 2in casters (2 back fixed, 2 front swivel)

Approx 40lbs in total.  3/4in plywood (sandyply for a nicer finish and easy sanding here and there).  Inside there are 2-3 2in 'L' braces along each edge, plus huge amounts of wood glue for support - not a single screw was used except at the braces, mounting of the PC, and the handles on the outside.

32in wide x 15in deep x 25in high (23+2in casters). 25ft RCA Audio/S-Video Cables for hook up to a Home Theater System and Big Screen TV (mine shown here is a 52in HDTV).

Running GameEx as the Frontend, MAMEUI32 127.5 on a WinXP OS.  1.4Ghz CPU, 1GB RAM, 250GB IDE-HD, 128MB ATI 7600 Video with S-Video Out.

All it needs still are some minor touchings of paint to the exposed screws on the side handles, a mounting plate for the Trackball (temp used 3in TB shown here), and a few bits of menu programming.

Thanks without measure to Jeffrey.  His input on some size and structure ideas made me get off my butt and build it finally.
