I received an arcadeVGA card from ultimarc
1. I put it in a machine with onboard graphics and it would not boot. I then put a known ati card in the same machine and it booted fine
2. I then put the arcadevga card in to a dell with no onboard graphics and it would not boot
3. I then put it in a custom built machine with a gigabyte m/b and still no boot
My reasonable assumption was dead card
But Andy has received the "faulty" board and it tests fine. He wants just to refund me but I am prepared to source another donor machine if needed so I've asked for another card obviously no warranty in this case.
I can't think why the card would not work in three seperate machines but then test ok back at unltimarc? I have to use this card as I have a cab ready to go.
My thoughts are that something in the original pc upset the arcdevga. Perhaps in transit back to ultimarc the caps discharged and the card would again work
Suggestions ?

Ok doing some research I have an idea. If I use soft15khz (software) with an ati radeon I know works in said machine I think this may resolve the issue. I am using a J-Pac so this will protect the monitor on startup yes? - ie 15Khz?

In theory yes, but bear in mind that soft15khz only works once the Windows environment loads - up il that point the bios screens etc. are at 31khz. Unless your monitor is a tri-sync monitor the bios creens could damage your monitor. Though if you aeusing a J-Pac it should block signals over 15khz, so as long as you can do without your bios check screens then you should be fine.
This is what I have gathered from other posts, so there may be facts missing here.

Sounding like a broken record, here: what kind of machine is it? That's a hint that your problem is probably not new, and may be found in a search, particularly under 'DELL'.

No its an HP with on board graphics. But I've also tried a dell and a clone with the same problem- no boot. I have searched pretty thoroughly and can't find anything close
PS- Got it working with soft15khz. Just got the guns going too but not finished yet - guns aren't tracking properly but I just need to spend more time with it. However will probably revert to arcadeVGA when I get the card

What type of monitor are you trying to use with it? The DVI port only produces 31K while the VGA port boots at 15khz. So if you plug in a PC monitor to the VGA port you won't be able to see anything.
Did any of the computers give you any bios beeps? Most boards will beep out a code to tell you that your video card is either not connected or is bad.
