Hi,
Long time lurker second time builder.
I have a laptop running maximus arcade all running fine but on startup I get a invalid time/date error message use control panel to set system time.
this is because the cmos is not holding but sometimes the machine is not plugged in for some time and i dont much want to know how late it is when trying to beat a game. so any help to get xp to ignore this error message would be great.
Thanks
sorry if this got posted more than once my internet crashed out.

Change the CMOS battery?

any way to sort it without doing that? as I don't really want to go down that road.
Thanks

You better start planning your trip because that is the only road you're going to be taking short of replacing the whole motherboard.

planned the trip and went into the cupboard got a battery out of the scrap / spares laptop and its sorted, I would still like a solution to have windows start and ignore any / all error messages.
Thanks

I'm not sure there's anything you could do that would block an error such as that from being displayed. Windows uses time for a lot of things, not the least of which is security, so it pretty much has to be right.

I think you can use
net /time
to force a sync against a sntp server even if the clock is way out of where it should be. I dont know if you can get that into startup before the error occurs however.

Seems like a lot of fuss over something...erm....ridiculously simple. You braved the belly of the beast, found it wasn't too rough, and you're on the downside. Things will occur from time to time.
