Title: Ipac 2 player problem...
Post by: redketchup on March 24, 2009, 01:01:22 pm
Hi Little question

I just finish my control panel 2 player with Ipac2. My problem is: when I put a second player in mame, I'm not able to play with my second joystick. I'm just able to play the second player with the first joystcik. When I test the second joystick in word pad, everything is OK. I supposed it's probably a mame.ini problem because my input setting (game specific) is ok when I check it in the game menu.

So I'm not sure if it's clear, because my english is not perfect, but any help going to be appricieted.

An other question...

thank's Gino

OK, this might be a dumb question but did you wire the P2 joystick to separate nodes on the iPac?

Yes

Joystick one to player one and joystick two to player 2... when I test it in word pad, the joystick 2 give me the good letter is supposed to write.

Another dumb question: which games have you tried this on?
Many games like Donkey Kong and the Pac family use joystick 1 for both player 1 and player 2 since they alternate turns.  Have you tried any simultaneous 2 player games like Arch Rivals?

Good to know

I will try it.  Is there a couple other game that you are sure that are both player simultaneous. And those it mean that two alternated player game play both with the first player control and simultaneous games play with both player...

A little foggy on what you are looking but if you mean two joysticks for a single player then Robotron would be one, I think SmashTV also.

Try loading Street Fighter or 1942 and play a 2P game.

yeah...you need to make sure that you are playing 2 player simultaneous games and see what happens.  games that alternate player turns only use 1 joystick because that is what the original cabinet had.  there is no point in having two joysticks when only one can be used at a time.  try street fighter, or 1942 or tmnt and see what happens

or put a game in cocktail mode- such as digdug or galaga. This will force the use of player2 joystick
