Anyone know what kind of joysticks these are, or what kind I could use as a replacement?

"Springstick" or "spring stick" usually.
Used in games for baseball (batting & pitching), football (throwing & kicking) or golf.

As for to buy, maybe CH products, Industrial (http://www.chproducts.com/oem/finger_resistive.html) joysticks might be a close replacement. One of the 2 axis ones; they have a bunch of normal handles to choose from. That or ebay?
I swear I've seen 'em somewhere else semi-recently, but can't find a link ATM. :-\

Those sure re some weird sticks - are they really better than a trackball though?
If you are unsure what they are and where to get replacements then you must not be that interested in games that use them (they sound dull anyway), so why not just ditch them for some digital jobbies anyway?

Those are Leland Analog joysticks from World Series the Season and John Elway's FootBall.

Sorry, wasn't clear. Most golf games (especially the popular ones) use a TB. IIRC, only one golf game used something like this, crgolf (Crowns Golf) (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7446). But if you look at the CP pic, you can see it's not the same. However, the spring stick will work for this game, far better than a TB for this one game.

Thanks for the input guys. The joysticks are from my old Pong. Over the past month I've been trying to do some work on it to get it running better than what it is now (see this thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=89792.0).) I thought maybe if I could find out what kind of joysticks it used I might be able to replace these ones.
The main problem is when you move the paddle too fast it gets all scrambled and the ball will pass right through the paddle, making it really irritating to play now (you can see the problem in the video in the other thread).
The wife says I should just let it die, but I just can't do that.

An old games console I had in the mid eighties had the same style stick.
It was called a rowtron, i'd say that would be as hard to find though
The plastic bits on the sticks screw off too

Could you not modify something like the stick below to remove the return to centres?

Just as I was making some headway one of the connections breaks off. Any ideas on how I can try to fix this? Does this thing come apart any more so I can get inside and fix the broken connection?

Well first things first. Use the Macro feature of your camera so we can look at non-blurry pictures. It's usually a picture of a flower on most modern cameras.

Well you can always solder a lead to what is left of the contact. I'm sure if it really bugs you that you can get a new pot from someone.

So Cheffo clicks to see where Chazz is from to see if he is somewhat local or if I know somebody local ... queue shock and awe, Cheffo and Chazz live in the same city.
Chazz may be afraid ... and not without good reason, however, it is too bad that I didn't look at this sooner, because the greatest collection of coin-op folks in this region was assembled just yesterday in the NW end of the city.
Chazz -- if you can get me a better picture, or perhaps just the specific text on the pot, I can check to see if one of the local shops stocks them.
Or, if you want to make your wife happy (and, really, who doesn't ?), I'll come pick the table up and leave you some cash -- it's may not be a real Pong, but it fits my current "really, really, retro" theme of acquisition.

Well, if it were me.....
I'd add a dab of flux to each piece, tin each piece with solder and then use the soldering iron to reconnect the two together.
Never a guarantee, but worth a shot.
Of course....if a replacement can be found easily, just go that route.

Hey gang,
It's been a while since I took a look at my Pong table that I'm trying to rebuild.
Some of the controls aren't working so well and need to be replaced.
I found the model number of the Pots:
Bourns: 3851Z-X75-903E
I was orginally going to get 8 of them (2 for each of the 4 joysticks), and the quote came back at $1,200!! They want $150 each for these things! Is that right? I wouldn't think these little guys would be so much. Did I request a quote for the right part? Does this price sound right to you? Anyone know if there are other options?

So I emailed them to see if this was the right price, and part that I was looking for.

So I'm back to square one trying to find the correct part. Any ideas team?
