Title: hanterex polo not powering up
Post by: bulge2 on March 16, 2009, 04:07:15 pm
hi

ive got a hanterex polo 25" which is about 5 years old. it was working perfectly before the cabinet was moved from one location to another (on a truck).  I havent put any dodgy power through it and there is some signs of life:

when i power up the cabinet i can hear a quiet ticking sound coming from the circuit board (underneath the metal cage in the picture)- the monitor doesnt buzz and power up at all.  the tick is about once a second or two? ive had a look around and cant see anything obvious

heres a piccy of the monitor

i unplugged the power and video to get a better photo - they are plugged in

help!

First thing I would do is fix that fuse holder that's kinda jacked up.

normally if it has a smps , the tick would likely be caused by a shorted component .
hot , or secondary diodes are common failures.

being trucked , it may have encountered some rough handling in transit .
or the failure could simply be coincidence... :dunno
a visual inspection is the first step, with some components checks to follow....
