Title: simpsons in mame
Post by: jakejake28 on June 28, 2003, 07:55:43 pm
hey, i have been running mame .70 since it came out, and just tried to play the simpsons. for some reason it shuts itself off and returns me to mamewah just after i select a player. is this normal? can it be corrected? i don't know if it worked in any previous versions, but i re-downloaded the rom to no avail. any help appreciated.

I had a similar problem, mame .70 has errors when running simpsons, and that is just sad, simpsons is un-sacraficable...so i'm using my own build of .69...

Known bug, fixed in the 0.70u1+ updates.

Choices:
wait for 0.71,
get a binary with the "official unofficial" upgrades,
get the source and the upgrades and compile your own, or
go back to 0.69.

OMG I finally got DRAGON KING WORKING last night and tried to play simpsons and it didn't work. I thought I had messed it up. I almost posted here but wanted to try some things out first. Good to know I'm not crazy.

You can download the v0.70 U5 version of mame (the executable - you do not need to know how to compile the thing) here:

Now, if someone can tell me which one is the Windows Pentium-Pro version?  I can't read French and can't figure it out on there!

Thanks

i thought unofficial mame versions that open new games are illegal...i got hounded for it, lol

Just to clarify, those "unofficial builds" (.70u1, .70u2, .70u3) are fromt he official source of mame.  They are intermediate releases [Haze] has decided to release.  It's the same as a version of mame with mslug4 compiled in being released.  The intermediate release are what is coming in the official mame for the next release.

[Haze] just recently did this for developers.  That way they can get their hands on the latest code.  Again, I really think they need to go gpl and put the source on sourceforge or some other cvs type system.
