Title: Adding a few buttons to cabinet - where to start?
Post by: jspicher on March 03, 2009, 06:52:41 pm
Hello everyone,

I have a few questions that l was hoping one of you more learned friends would be willing to help me get started with...

I've gotten an arcade cabinet that l'm using an x-arcade tank stick with. I'm very happy with the stick but l would like to add a few more buttons to my cab (say for game reset/exit/volume etc.) onto the side of my cabinet (not on my tank stick). For instance if l press the "reset button" it simulates the keyboard's {F1} button being pressed and that being my mame preset to soft reset the game, the game gets reset.

So other than buying the buttons; where would l start? What other hardware do l need to purchase? Is there something l can buy that will interface with a USB port and let me ad a handful of extra buttons to my cab? I'd need to have it interface with a USB port if possible because my tankstick/keyboard are already using my PS/2 keyboard spot. I'm looking for the easiest - least handyman/hi-tech related way to go about this.

Your thoughts are very much appreciated!
