Just another one of those "critic my cp please and tell me what you think" threads.
I just think there is no better place to go for an honest opinion. Top to bottom is the development of the cp, tell me what you think.

Looks great. I'm glad to see you figured out the second one was a bad idea.
-
very nice...i like it
-
Looks good, what color buttons are you planning to use for player 1 and 2?
-
I like the last best, but a couple questions/points.
What are the three buttons in the top middle?
Be very careful of the exit right next to player 1 coin; if it's accidentally pressed when P1 meant to coin up= IMO, this happening once is way too many times. I'd separate the exit and pause buttons further from the other buttons, or force a two button press to exit.

I have a pause next to the start for each player, and when P1 start and P1 pause are pressed together, the game exits. Even with a two-button exit, I've had people reach for the start or pause and accidentally hit both and exited their game. I'm working on putting a stiff exit button out of the way.

Buttons in the top middle are a rotary joystick with two buttons.
Thanx for the tip on the exit button.....
As for colours of joystik/button i didnt even think of this :banghead: I currently have blue and white buttons and black joysticks.....what colours should i go for...green, red/black or just black...not sure now

i like the second one just straight out the buttons and joysticks

Or, go 1 step further & cover your exit button with a spring loaded cover: http://s242.photobucket.com/albums/ff97/infernolab/Arcade%20Game/?action=view¤t=20cupholdersgun.jpg

looks interesting...do you just lift up the cover to expose the button???
home made or sold somewhere??
-
It's probably going to be hard to match greens in the plastic buttons & sticks with the "poker green" on the CP; green is one of the easiest to clash color, IMO. How about red and black, to go with the suits? White wouldn't clash with the theme either, but maybe as coin, start and/or admin buttons.

Bought both the stainless steel switch & cover at a local electronic store, Duvac Electronics in Pasadena. Used to be a Marvac Dow, I think.
Cover (meant for a barrel key switch, but who says I have to use things as intended???): http://www.marvac.com/detail.aspx?ID=25108
Switch I used at first (but then I found another one that's all chrome & matches the cover perfectly--the one linked here is a nice fit): http://www.itcelectronics.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=26&products_id=3726&osCsid=9cb6cae20c25039c503507bf6244aff1
Discussion on the topic (note that I have both of the covered buttons mapped to ESC now, rather than the PC power button, as discussed in my thread): http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=65402.0
Furthermore, I covered the PC power pushbutton with one of these: http://www.action-electronics.com/switches.htm#Safety
Sure, the cover's meant for a toggle switch (and it will actuate the switch when it's closed), but I found a small pushbutton that fits under it & won't get pressed by the cover:

I agree - I like the boxes around the buttons, etc., but don't angle the joysticks and buttons. Really like the artwork and theme!

The only problem with the boxes around joystick once str8ened is that it will cover a lot of the centre artwork and imo i dont want that.

Like the idea of Red and Black to go with the suits...have to buy a whole new set of buttons now :hissy: oh well... can use white for the admin for sure...

What about adjusting the boxes so they only cover the buttons (i.e. not the joystick holes) - that's what I did with mine:
