Title: Arcade/Pinball - How many Pinball Buttons?
Post by: whynotpizza on March 02, 2009, 01:45:37 pm

Simple question and am having trouble finding the answer.  :)

How many buttons should I put on an Arcade which is also going to be running Visual Pinball and Future Pinball?

1 on each side (for a total of 2)

  -or-

2 on each side (for a total of 4)

Would you ever need a total of 4 pinball flipper buttons?

Future pinball supports nudge Left and Right as well as up.  A second flipper control can be placed on each side but is seldom used right now.   So 2 buttons 1 for nudge and 1 for flipper on each side and perhaps a nudge up on the front of the cabinet.

There used to be a game with a button on each side to energize the magnets in the playfield.  Can't remember the name or if it is emulated.  So that would make 3 buttons.  I have 2 on each side myself.  Flip and Tilt.

Black Knight is the pinball game that has the magnets in the playfield that was activated by the buttons on each side next to the flippers.  I think it is emulated in VPinball as well.

Most people use the second button as a right and left nudge.
