Title: Virtual Music Jukebox Questions
Post by: mumbles on March 02, 2009, 01:32:53 am
Hi,

In Virtual Music Jukebox what does the album cover have to be named for it to show up?

Also I have read that you can set up a code (by pressing the buttons on your juke) to shut down the pc/exit music jukebox to windows but I can't work out how to do this. Can anyone help?

Well you have to create a let say rock folder were ever on you hard drive then create a folder in the rock folder of the name of the artist for instants ( black sabbath) inside of the sabbath folder you put all of black sabbaths albums and name them by the album name (heaven and hell) make sure you put the pic of the album in with the music or it won't show up.... ;D

Its easier to do that with a touch screen what are you using it would be the f button on the control panel were you choose the music.

They do have a very good help menu at the vmj web sight but if you rather me help thats no problem either happy to help

To get VMJ to shut down your PC you have to use the function key and bring up the function display.  You can customize the function display by using options/settings/general/functions screen.  You can choose 4 preset functions
Shutdown System
Exit VMJ
Change Library
Change Track.

If you tick Shutdown System it will show up when you use the function key on the onscreen display.  You can also assign a function key and it will bring up the same menu.

In VMJ the albumn cover can be named anything you want it to be. For instance in the Black Sabbath example given, Your File structure should be  (harddrive letter)/(file where music is stored/Black Sabbath/ Heaven & Hell/cover.jpg

so kinda like this:

c:/my music/Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell/cover.jpg
"/       "       /        "            /          "           /song.mp3
"/       "       /        "            /          "           /song.mp3
"/       "       /        "            /          "           /song.mp3
"/       "       /        "            /          "           /song.mp3

Remember, VMJ you can have the albumn cover .jpg named anything you want. Just as long as it is a .jpg.

I hope that helps!

If you want VMJ to shut down your PC, just use it for awhile.  It will shut it down soon enough.

The reason you can't do this is the fact it would be hard to work out where the album number ended and the track number started. Imagine you want to play track 1 of album 11.

011001 is easy as it's 3 inuputs for each (I'm assuming this i have not used VMJ)

111 is almost impossible as i could be album 1 track 11, album 11 track 1 or just album 111...

Hopefully that clears it up for you.

all keypad based software do this, includning MultiFE in its Jukebox GUI feature, so Barcrest is correct.

In MultiFE you do not need to enter 01 for song 1 if you have a enter button. Zeros is allways needed for the albums, if you have 10 or more albums. Otherwice MultiFE can't track which album you would use.

You can turn off the album numbering if you use a touchscreen.  Much better than a keypad in my opinion.

yeah but i dont think he has a touch srceen the only way is to rename and even then it will only make the numbers shorter he'll still have alot of number to select a song my old one is just like that but on the bright side all the people that never seen one before think its the ---coolest and the numbers really wasn't a problem they were just pushing away  ;D

is there any way to set up vmj so when it starts it automatically scans the music directory and adds new albums or deletes ones that have been deleted like skjukebox does?

Not sure in any version past 6 that it shows the Up Next song name or artist. If you have the same version 6  ;) like everyone else does ;) then all you will get is the number!

Check their VMJ's website and try to read the specs or see if there are any screenshots.

Just fork out the $$$ for E-Touch. I did and I'm glad I did. So far, Great support comes along with it. All my questions have been answered with fixes and the developer is open to suggestions for futher releases!

Use the E-Touch demo and you will find it is better than VMJ.
