I'm running mame 127u3 and can't get past the "check menu" screen
any Ideas?
I think I remember playing in an earlier version of mame

i just checked and all 3 run just fine on my mame .124

I'm supposed to have the right rom set for .127 I also tried the rom from .128 and sill get the same thing
what happens after the "check menu" screen? do you have to press any buttons to get out of that screen?

i just launch the game, it goes through it's cycle and then prompts me to insert a coin. i insert a coin and press start and it starts playing.
looking at this article, there were some changes to the ROMS for version .127..i dont know if that is related to your problem or not...

did you enter the service menu (f2) or check the dip switch settings (tab)? i shut my cabinet down for the night, but i'll look a little closer at it tomorrow.

yeah I was afraid of that
I think I'll try .128 today and see if it works in that as I'm sure I have the right rom for that

That one U version (0.127u3) had a issue that was reported for others in that SNK.C driver... specifically, Ikari Warriors. I suspect this falls under the same problem and was corrected in 0.127u4 by my testing.

If you are going to use a mame version, it's typically best to stick to the main releases as the temporary regressions that happen are largely cleaned up by then.

thanks for the tip
yeah, just figured it was something like that. The new and old roms work in .128, so I figured it was an issue with .127u3
