Title: Would this Sanyo TV work as a monitor?
Post by: grumlenz on February 28, 2009, 08:23:08 pm
I can get a used Sanyo DS27800 TV for about $50. I have been searching for a 27" tube on craigslist and elsewhere and they are not common in my area. This TV has S-Video, as does my video card. It looks like it would fit into the Mameroom UAII cabinet I ordered (just barely). I can't find any info on if it has the power return feature, but it does have a feature called "TV reset" but I couldn't find any info on what that actually is. I have read the monitor FAQ and can't think of anything else I need specifically, what else should I be looking for, if anything? Would you guys use this as a monitor or should I keep looking? Thanks!

a simple circuit can be added to turn the set on upon applying ac.
wether it will default to tuner or stay on line /s-vid is the next question....u'll need to try .

Thanks, I may have to get back to you on a circuit if I end up getting this TV. In general, has anyone used a Sanyo as a monitor? It has the comb filter. Would it be decent?

if I were you I would hold out and look for video monitors that take vga. I've found some for 50-75 and they are great!
Sony pvm, and mitsubishi multisync are a great start.

When you say video monitors do you mean computer monitors or TVs? Will I get better results with VGA over S-Video and DVI? Those are the 3 options I have my with my video card. Thanks!
