hey guys, i just got my cabinet back online again after a few months of being down...i am going through my favorites game list and dont want to miss out on anything awesome...so what are the 10 most frequently played games on your cabinet?

Donkey Kong
PacMan
Puzzle Bobble
Mortal Kombat 2
Space Zap
Sunset Riders
TMNT
Space Invaders
Cameltry
-
My favorites category has about 25 games, but these are the main ones I play. If I could have a cab with just these games on it, I wouldn't complain.

Robotron
Moon Patrol
Defender
Time Pilot
Gyruss
Xevious
Don Pachi
Berzerk
Rescue
-
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting
Street Fighter 2 The World Warrior
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition
Street Fighter 3 Third Strike
Street Fighter 3 Second Impact
Street Fighter Alpha
Street Fighter 3 New Generation
in that order.
-
I used to love fighting games, but since having a stroke my left hand is not responsive enough for the speed needed, so now it's;
TMNT
Simpsons
Final Fight
Wrestlefest
Vendetta
Sunset Riders
Double Dragon
Golden Axe
194- (whichever)
Shadow Warriors (Ninja Gaiden)
As you can see, I've substituted 'vs' fighters for co-op side-scrolling fighters which are great for party play, though I also love vert shooters, button bashers and not really a fan of true classics like I should be. If I were to extend this list to consoles, I'd probably add;
Soul Blade (PS1)
Tetris (GB)
Alien Storm (MD)
Revenge Of Shinobi (MD)
Altered Beast (MD)
Streets Of Rage (MD)
Mario Kart (SNES)
Punch-Out (NES)
Zelda 3 (SNES)
Sonic 2 (MD)
and back in the day when I was a fighting ace:
Killer Instinct
SF2 Turbo
Tekken 2
Soul Calibur 2
Fatal Fury Series
and a few ohers would have been on my cab.

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker (mostly because no one believes it exists & then there are many Freudian type references)
Edit: For me it seems the classics fare better when I play solo or need a quick fix, the fighter/brawler & bar types (GT, SS, WCB) are great party games.
-
Robotron
Pacman
Galaga
Escape From The Planet Of The Robot Monsters
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Ghosts 'n Goblins
Hat trick

Something happened to Mccaulay too BTW, once he made that movie "party monster" I knew he, well, never mind.

-
Am I the only one who prefers Galaga 88 above the original one?
The Galactic Dancing tune kicks ass!
Maybe you are the only one who prefers it over the original, but I think it is a blast to play, even if it does get a bad rap from the hardliners.
EDIT: edited for clarity

In my house, top 10 games played in recent months would be (no particular order):
Rygar
Galaga
Asteroids ... when it's working :-\
Robotron
Bubbles
Joust
VS Super Mario Bros ... I've never liked it, but everybody else seems to
Missile Command ... I've been on an MC kick lately
Donkey Kong
Ms Pac
What has been surprising to me is how popular some of the older, less mainstream, vertical games are. They don't make the top 10, but lots of different folks who play at my house (all younger than I am) like to play Pooyan, Phoenix, The End, Juno First, Moon Cresta and Van Van Car.
-
This changes for me but right now here is my top 5 or so since some are a series of games:
1. Galaga
2. Robotron
3. Metal Slug (Series)
4. Visual Pinball
5. Joust
-
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting
Street Fighter 2 The World Warrior
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition
Street Fighter 3 Third Strike
Street Fighter 3 Second Impact
Street Fighter Alpha
Street Fighter 3 New Generation
in that order.

I'd probably have to look at my list to figure it out, but this gives me a good idea. My "favorites" list is over 100 games now, which is big enough that some games get lost in the shuffle - games that aren't close to the current selection in the FE don't get a lot of consideration, especially with time on the mame cab so limited (my kids dominate the mame cab, so most of my playing is done on the dedicated cabs - tron, defender, cyberball). What I need to do is go through the list and put together a list of the top 10 or 15 games, and make an "all time" favorites list.
BTW, I love seeing Andy's post here. It's not often that I see posts from Andy that aren't related to product support. It's refreshing and cool to see him making a post like that. You almost forget that he's a gamer like the rest of us!
-
Gravitar
I-Robot
Tron
Crazy Climber
Donkey Kong
Dragon's Lair
Mario Bros.
Tempest
Stargate
Marble Madness
and so many, many others...
-

1. - Street Fighter 2 Turbo: Hyper Fighting
2. - Samurai Shodown 2
3. - Elevator Action
4. - Funhouse (pin)
5. - Bad Cats (pin)
6. - Pac-man

You really like Bad Cats all that much as a pin? I really can't get into that one other than when it goes "Meow, Meow, Meoooow". ;)
-
great lists guys...that's what i was hoping for. thanks to this thread, i have discovered a few new awesome games that i didn't know about before.
world class bowling is great...
and i have to agree with Andy....bal-cube=awesome!!!
i also prefer Galaga 88 over the original..but then again..i had never played the original before i got my mame cabinet....there just weren't that many arcades in the area when i was younger.
-
Not in any particular order - and I'm still trying to get through 90% of the games on my cab, but up-to-date, these -
1. King of Fighters 2002
2. Arkanoid
3. Pacman
4. Super Street Fighter 2
5. Metal Slug X
6. Super Sidekicks 3
7. 19XX (forgotten the rest of the title!! ???)

-
My vertical setup:
Donkey Kong
Galaga
Galaxian
Frogger
Phoenix
Galaga 88
19XX
Flying Shark
Ms. Pac-Man
Pac-man
yeah, pretty generic stuff, but I'm just getting into classic games. :dunno
-
Not in order, and I'm sure I missed some:
Mr. Do!
Donkey kong
DK Jr.
Millipede
Crystal Castles
Street Fighter Alpha 2
VS. Ice Climber
Cyberball
Rampart (must try since you just got a trackball, it's deeper than it appears at first)
Mappy
I also play Journey a lot just to laugh at the digitized pictures of the band. Pure comedy.
-
Namco...
You really like Bad Cats all that much as a pin? I really can't get into that one other than when it goes "Meow, Meow, Meoooow". ;)
The recreation on Virtual Pinball is just sooooo good, you can't help but enjoy it. Plus I love cats! The "Meow, Meow, Meoooow" is the greatest sound byte ever too by the way ;D
-
great lists guys...that's what i was hoping for. thanks to this thread, i have discovered a few new awesome games that i didn't know about before.
I agree completely.
This thread makes me happy. ;D
It's nice seeing some of the choices, especially when I can actually try some of the games you guys have listed here.
I never played Flying Shark, Bal-Cube, and Shuffleshot before, and NHL 94 Genesis is awesome on a stand-up machine!
-
1 - track n' field
2 - donkey kong
3 - galaga
4 - moon patrol
5 - truxton
6 - centipede
7 - missile command
8 - qix
9 - arch rivals
10 - ms pacman
Like how you can get a rough sense of someone's age by the games on their list, makes this older guy want to yell at you damn kids for playing street fighter on my lawn :)
-
In no particular order:
Ultimate MK 3 (Ermac owns)
Track N Field
Dungeons and Dragons (either title)
Moon Patrol
damnit..forgot the name ( vertical shooter where one character is a witch)
Hot Rod
Cyberball
Joust
Monster Bash - Virtual Pin
probably a tie between Karate Champ and Robotron
I haven't updated Mame or my Mame Box in a while, or I would be tearing up Gauntlet Ledgends, SF 3, and MvC 2
-
I only have 5 games on my cabinet at work because I only install the games on the PC of the boards (daphne is DVD's) I own, but they all rock :)
In order they get played:
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (about 1800 plays per month)
Hyper Street Fighter II (About 300 plays per month)
Dragon's Lair II (about 20 plays per month)
Dragon's Lair (about 5 plays per month)
Space Ace (Never seen anyone but me play it every once in awhile)
Once Street Fighter IV (PC) releases I expect that will easily take the top spot.
-
Sweet! Seeing some games here that I've never played!
Here's some of my really obscure picks -
Gravitar (give it a go - its gruesomely hard!)
Garou - Mark of the Wolves (a good Street Fighter variant - though I'm not sure how obscure this is)
Outfoxies
Windjammers/Flying Power Disc
-
I see a lot of 'gyruss' out there. Nice. TOK's got a pretty good list. I guess my most played (in no particular order) are:
DK
DKjr
Robotron
Mspac
Tempest
Black Widow
Pole Position (I swear I'd taken it to the limit without a peddle; I was wrong.)
Joust
Bubbles
Mmm, I think that's it for lately. Others I've played a lot - like Mappy - but haven't been lately. That's when I usually get my highest scores, too, hehn, is when I come back to them.
Am I the only one who prefers Galaga 88 above the original one?
The Galactic Dancing tune kicks ass!
Nope. Not by a long shot.
@ Hoopz............
Complete the game & tell me the robots do not have shall we say "greek bathouse commodities" & the massive ship at the end looks like that fat kid from the movie Super Bad drew it when he was little.
....I've been meaning to get back to that game. Now I must.
Something happened to Mccaulay too BTW, once he made that movie "party monster" I knew he, well, never mind.
Back to the non camel tail related thread.
Well, look at Cary Elwes. He's certainly undergone a change.
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting
Street Fighter 2 The World Warrior
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition
Street Fighter 3 Third Strike
Street Fighter 3 Second Impact
Street Fighter Alpha
Street Fighter 3 New Generation
in that order.
You need to see this (WARNING: explicit language)
This is what happens when you have anime heads creating games. No....sense....of place.
I'd probably have to look at my list to figure it out, but this gives me a good idea. My "favorites" list is over 100 games now, which is big enough that some games get lost in the shuffle...
That's why I have three 'favorites', in descending order or 'like', in my Favorites folder.
BTW, I love seeing Andy's post here. It's not often that I see posts from Andy that aren't related to product support. It's refreshing and cool to see him making a post like that. You almost forget that he's a gamer like the rest of us!
Yeah, totally.

I haven't updated Mame or my Mame Box in a while, or I would be tearing up Gauntlet Ledgends, SF 3, and MvC 2
would that unknown shooter be gunbird or cotton?
-
1. - Super Dodge Ball (neo-geo)

3. - Mortal Kombat II
4. - The Glob
5. - Timber
6. - World Class Bowling

Just got a shipment from Divemaster yesterday, so i don't have any cabinet to play on yet.
I do have all of the software on my laptop, and I can say that Grid Wars will probably be high on my list. Had to mention it since I haven't seen it on any lists yet.
Given how much I like the game using a keyboard/mouse, I can't wait to try it with two U360's
In case you don't have it, here is the Dual U360 hack for Grid Wars: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=80123.0

I cannot believe how much fun Berserk is. I find it borderline addictive to play. And maybe it's just because I suck, but the games are over pretty quick; I can jump on and play a game in under ten minutes. It's just the right amount of gameplay to fit in my typically busy schedule.
