I have the iPac4, with the 2 PS/2 connectors (PC & passthrough).
Programming via the "test/program mode" (ctrl-alt-p & use notepad) works fine. But I don't see any way to program the special buttons that you can use via right-click in WinIPAC (specifically, I want to use POWER).
So trying to "Program IPAC" in WinIPAC results in 'failed to program device' no matter what way I connect it:
ipac to pc via ps2 (with and without ps2 keyboard connected to passthrough)
ipac to pc via usb (with and without ps2 keyboard conntected to either passthrough or to pc ps2 connector).
that's about all the combinations I can think of and I get the error every time. I'm using the lastest WinIPAC version from the ultimarc site, and have also disabled the legacy usb function in bios (I did try it both ways though).
Any pointers? Even if there was some way to assign the special POWER etc functions via the test/program mode.
Cheers!

I've no ideayou could map 'power' and I believe this will only work if your motherboard supports keyboard wake-up/shutdown anyway. You could be getting the programming error because the timeout setting is too low. Go into 'timers' and drag the slider to 10 seconds. I've found that when using i-pacs in PS/2 mode or on a slower PC it can take a few seconds longer to flash the i-pac with your key configs.

Can you download it again just in case. It was updated very recently.

I am confused by what version I have now. I went to http://www.ultimarc.com/download.html and clicked the link to download http://www.ultimarc.com/winipac_1_2_16.exe
When I ran the install, it said it was version 1.1.15. After installing I click About and it says 1.2.152. WinIPAC.exe is stamped 28 Feb 2009 8:02AM.
In any case, I get the same error. However I've noticed in options this version thinks I'm connected via USB, so I changed it to PS/2. As soon as I hit Program I-PAC I get a popup immediately saying "Can't open the driver!"
Help..

when I used the program I had to tell the software my connection type & ipac product in the drop down menu somewhere. I hope you did that part.
Also what OS are you using? I had to send an inquiry because I could not get my ipac ve to work under vista x64 in usb mode and I got a new usb driver from them that fixed it. That maybe part of this new update.
As for a power button, I do not know of one myself. The people that have a power key that I know of have a button wired to the computer switch. tho I see no reason you cant use a macro or something for a shutdown key.

Yes I have selected IPAC/4 and PS/2. I'm using WinXP Pro SP2. It's not so much that I simply have to have a power button, but just can't program in general from the app, only via test/program mode with PS2 keyboard in passthrough, which I won't always have.

The differences were:
Corrected reversion to I-PAC VE when the new I-PAC FS32 was selected as the device.
Corrected incorrect installation of the 64 bit driver on a Vista 64 bit system.

Can you drop me an email, this sounds like a simple case of a missing file.

Hi,
So I finally made a 4 player panel for this ipac4. Now the error I get when trying to program with winipac is "timeout".
This file does exist which was the error last time: Windows\System32\TVicPort.ocx
The Interactive Programming and Test Mode (CTRL-ALT-P in notepad) works but I obviously can't assign macros that I've setup in Winipac, or change the shift key in that.
Output from that is below, and there are no shorts or 'always on' keys. Have a ps/2 keyboard in passthrough, and using the original ps/2 cable. Installed the latest winipac for pre-2015 boards and 'run as' administrator. This is now on a new Win7 64bit PC.
Ideas?
