I'm getting ready to make my final major purchase for my soon to be built cab. I have everything except a spinner. I am torn between GGG's Turbo-twist2 (with the energy storage cylinder) and the Dream Authentics Tornado. I would mostly be playing Tron, Tempest, Omega Race and Arkanoid. What say you?
TIA
Mike

I have a push/ pull spinner from GGG that I like alot although if I had to do it again, I think I would get the one you are looking at from them. I don't find myself use the push/ pull feature much if at all.

I just posted this on another thread but thought it might apply here as well
one other thing to keep in mind is the set up after you plug it in.
I've just been wrestling for a week to get the Turbo Twist Hi-lo Spinner to work properly.(Same issue with the TT2) You need to up your mouse poll rate (which can be difficult depending on your OS) otherwise you get crazy backspin because the resolution is so ridiculously high (and unnecessary in my opinion, unless your building a dedicated Arkinoid cab, and I mean really do you need high resolution spinner for glorified Break-Out?)
Both the the Apache and the Ultimarc Spin-Track work without that hassle of changing the mouse polling rate
I don't have a Tornado so I don't know about that one But I'm pretty sure it's a standard resolution spinner, so you wouldn't have to mess with the poll rate
I'm not saying one is better than the other, they all have advantages and disadvantages
and all three vendors make quality products and have great customer service

Maybe it is just mean but the TT HL spinner seems to work ok with me, are you saying it is too responsive when moving it from left to righ?
Excuse my ignorance but I am not 100% sure what people mean when talking about back spin.

The reply (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=89885.msg944252#msg944252) is equally appropriate.

Tempest is a good test, set the analog sensitivity to 6 (this is the setting recommended by RandyT)
spin as fast as you can in one direction if it goes the right way you have no backspin, if it spins the wrong way initially then goes the right way that is Backspin
-
Well seriously, how fast do you need to spin? If one setting doesn't work then change it.

god, I wish it was that simple

I guess here is better than a new thread. Can you use a trackball on spinner games? The only spinner game I would ever play is arkanoid, and I can't justify a dedicated spinner just for that. I will be adding a trackball and was hoping I could just use that. I would assume its doable, I'm really just wondering if it would cause any sensitivity issues. In 32-bit Win XP.

Can you play it with a trackball? yes. Is it fun? Probably. Are you going to do well in the game? I'm guessing it is very, very unlikely. :)

Let me try this another way.... Has anyone used TT2 (not the up/down version), do you like it? Pros, cons? We all know Randy T's service is exemplary :applaud:. Same set of questions relating to Dream Authentics Tornado.
TIA

Yes, got it. Yes, love it. Best points - small footprint, small interface, steering wheel attachment. Bad points - cost of attachment, shipping to UK! No idea bout Tornado.

Yes, I have one of those too and have the same issue as long as you patch your poll rate to at least 500Hz it is fine
Ditto on the ease of installation and small footprint. Great!

I ordered the TT2 and Token Knob Wednesday. I can't wait to get it installed and try it out with Tempest and Arkanoid when it arrives (hurry Randy the wait is killing me!!!! :)).

spin as fast as you can in one direction if it goes the right way you have no backspin, if it spins the wrong way initially then goes the right way that is Backspin
I'll have to give that a try. Where are you setting the sensitivity, in Mame or in Windows?

in mame hit tab then go to analog controls\analog sensetivity
also inder controls make sure that analog dial incline and decline are set to "none" those are for digital emulaton and mess with anolog control (thanks to u_rebelscum for that info)

Oh ok, thanks for the info.. I'll have to give it a shot.
