Where can you buy the quick connect connectors
for the switches and joysticks.
and what sizes are needed . I would prefer the crimp type but solder type is ok.
I found some that I thought would work at radio $hack
but they only had 10 in stock and I need several dozen
These were I believe .187 size? Is the common connector the same it looks kind of a different size.
I am using happ horiz buttons
happ super joysticks
Thanks Slug54

i used the size for 22 guage wire. it was the smaller of the two available sizes at radio shack (red, not blue, plastic).
my radio shack also didn't have many, but i went to home depot and they sold them in larger quantity packages.
insulated is probably better than non-insulated, though i ran out of the former and used the non-insulated for a number of my switches with no problem.
you can also get them at happs if you're ordering anything else from them (25 dol. min. and all)

I got mine at Shuck's Auto supplies. I'm pretty sure their stores are nation wide. They have all kinds of quick female disconnects, but I'd suggest the red ones, forgot exactly how big they are. I bought a pair of blue ones as well, but they were a tad bit big, they worked, but I had to crimp em REALLY tight, it was kind of a good thing though cause I had blue for grounds, and red for positives (whatever the one that is always changing), so it was kind of color coded.

Fry's Electronics, if you have one of those near you, sells .187 QDs.

I meant to say in Packs of 100. My bad.

I found at digi-key and plan to buy these for my Control Panel wiring. They are made by Molex and are specifically made for cherry switches, all three terminals are in a single insulated connector and they look real cool. If neatness is your thing (like me) you will love these, they are not cheap but I think they are well worth it!
Connector insulation part #06-02-3031
Loose terminals used in above connector part #05-06-0304
Technical page for the terminals is: http://www.molex.com/product/special/1943.pdf
I could not find a technical page for the connector itself but here is the catalog page from digi-key: http://info.digikey.com/C021/V2/653.pdf

Which part number are you referring to in the product catalog?
Is it
Part number: WM2553-ND
or
Part number: WM2514-ND
It's not clear what the detent is.

Joysticks and buttons normally use .187 and I have seen coin switches use .25

You can also order these from Radio Shack at www.theshack.com Get 22-gauge 0.187 female QD's and I also prefer insulated, although it really doesn't matter.

Actually you need both, the first (WM2553-ND or Molex 06-02-3031) is the nylon housing without any contacts in it, then you need 2 or 3 contacts (WM2514-ND or Molex 05-06-0304) for each housing.
So if you want to wire a micro switch in the usual way we use them, you get 1 housing and 2 contacts for each micro switch.
So to wire 30 switches it would cost....
30 housings = $18.39
60 contacts = $14.34
Total = $32.73 + applicable taxes and shipping
It's not clear what the detent is.
I have no idea what exactly they refer to when they talk about the detent!

Thanks, it makes a lot more sense since there was such a big price difference...

Bob Roberts has just the right ones--.187 size, fully insulated, and made for 22 gauge wire. (the ones at Fry's are mad for 16 gauge wire and the insulation comes off when you try to disconnect them.) Packs of 50 pretty cheap. No min order & fast delivery.
