You plan on having the colors in 2 section with the top section being black and the bottom being blue, right? Or maybe the top section is entirely covered in artwork. Either way, if you're gonna have blue around the bottom you might as well just paint it. Nobody is going to be leaning over to check out what material you used. For the front and inside around monitor you can use vinyl. It comes by the roll so is easier to install.

I've seen several different finishes with paint and so far I haven't been happy with any of them (maybe i'm just too fussy!).
I'd consider vinyl sheeting if this gave good results, any ideas when I could get this from?
Ideally I'd like to use laminate as this does seem to give the most professional finish. The bottom half would be covered completely with blue laminate and the top section would have it on its top and rear in black.

I've just ordered a catalogue from them and their vinyl looks quite promising.

my bottom piece is all laminated black and top is covered with artwork and plexi glass.

Well the top side sections will be covered with sideart and covered with plexi, as I did with my controller (really please with the finish on that). Only the top and rear will be black laminate. The bottom half with be completely covered with laminte.
