Has anyone built anything portable? I would like to have something for my home but also be able to take it to friends house etc.. I was thinking something small speakers in it but in the same token audio out to hook into a bigger stereo.

Here is a really small touch screen for video and audio. ;D ;D ;D ;D
All kidding aside there is a really small pin/juke that was built a while ago. Not a touchscreen but that would could be altered to get rid of the juke buttons.

I was thinking of building something like this myself. Using a touchscreen monitor like the ones used in cars.
Something like a boom box. But after reading up on some of the car forums I decided against it.
Apparently these monitors don't last more than a year.

I made mine portable. I take to my buddies house everytime I go there. It's heavy but not super heavy that you'd need 2 people to carry it in. I bring it in by myself all the time. I used a 17" touchscreen and 2 4 1/2 polk 2 way car speakers with a 240 watt 2 channel amp. If I can get some time I'll take a pic of it for you.

I used to have a touchscreen tablet style PC that i used with an external Hard Drive to take to peoples houses. It worked well but wasn't an all in one solution, i did have to patch into their existing sound system.

OMG are you serious? That is too cool!
I'm gonna have to call and get a price quote on that.
Res. is strange though... Resolution: 800x480 pixels
May run into probelms there. 7" TS maybe too small.
Maybe a laptop with a touchscreen would be a good soultion and would also serve a dual purpose??

Does anyone offer prefab stuff other than mameroom?
-
As far as I can remember all the other juke cabs were sort of cabaret style. Nothing as compact as the wall mount from Mameroom. With the small mother boards now available you could put one in almost any size enclosure. Your largest constraint would be the size of your touchscreen. If you want really compact just use a 10 inch touchscreen monitor and any of the micro boards that they use for putting the multimedia computer in a car. All sorts of options available.
