Title: Mp3s or only Wavs in Layout editor?

I had recently downloaded a mame skin to edit for my cabinet, it came with a few sounds i had wanted to use in the mala layout editor, but the files don't appear when I look for them (they are mp3s).  It seems the only option available is for .wav files.  Is this the case with the mala layout editor, or am I just missing something obvious? 

Also, is there a work around for this, or do I have to take the time to convert all the mp3s to wavs?

I am pretty sure you can only use wave files so will need to convert your mp3's
