So, now my cabs are leaving my living room one by one (to the gameroom), I was looking at using the left-over space for something nice and useful. My wife of course suggested (another) cabinet/chest kind of thing, anyway something to store even more useless stuff. Naturally I had some other idea's about it.
So I was looking at getting a jukebox. Not an open classic, because it has to be affordable as I spend enough money on the cabs already.
So, going through all kinds of closed juke's, I found the Seeburg USC1 and fell in love with it.

I really like the lighting style and the heavy use of chrome. The "half-moon" shape is also great IMHO.
I found a couple for sale overhere, some of them not working.
Id there are some experts here I've got some questions:
1) are these good quallity ? How is the sound. It's 1970 built I hope that means tube amp ?
2) how good are my chances on fixing a none working one. I understand there can be all kinds of problems and I'm not the best on mechanical problems (electronics is more my thing).

These are good machines. Go to Tony Miller's Seeburg Website:

He worked at the factory on these machines in the engineering department. He's written several books on how to repair these machines and I highly suggest you purchase ALL of his books.
This machine has a transistor amplifier and once rebuilt sounds excellent. Tony Miller's amplifier book tells how to rebuild/test/calibrate this amplifier and is worth every penny.

Looks like a nice juke too.... I love anything that has some sort of "style" to it, different, unique, etc.

Check out this vid, it shows the USC1. Love the running selector numbers. Overall lighting is great too. Looks to me like instead of a white tube, this guy put in a black-light tube to light up the upper area ?

JESUS JOSEPH AND MARY look at those racks behind that juke! Chock full of jukebox goodness. And to think I thought the mountain of 8-liners was impressive at the local op's shop...

O, I just stole that pic from the internet, it's not the exact machine I am looking at.
Seller accepted my offer BUT she says I have to come over with 6 man because it has to be lifted out of a window as there's no other way to get it out of the house anymore.....:S
No idea what is wrong with it, any obvious parts that are often missing/bad that I need to look at before I pick it up ?

I guess that's why she sells it so cheap :)
She did mention the window is on the ground floor, wow what else did she expect ? I'd rent a lift or anything.... :dunno
The machine is almost 190 kgs. That's about the weight of the SW cockpit......yikes :D

Going over there today to first have a look at the machine and the situation. The problem is that they have a new heating radiator in the hall that it can't pass through (that's what the lady told me).

OK, well the machine looks decent enough. Not like new but hey, I was 3 when this machine was produced :D
It's chock-full with singles and there's even a stack of them inside the machine and they come with it, no idea what it all is, but it's nice to have a full jukebox anyway. There's also 2 extra new needles included.
The seller told that the problem was with the keyboard as soon as you selected the 3rd number. If that rings any bells I'd like to know what the cause might be :) (Doesn't seem to be on the site Ken referred to.
The speakers have been replaced a couple of years ago. It's complete and it looks like it can be brought back to a very nice condition.
It's very near the window where it will have to go throug and the window is big enough so I guess with 4 guys it should be easy enough to get it out.
Have to discuss with Mrs.Level 42 but I think I'll go for it :)

Well, the Mrs. actually agreed with buying the juke, but I had thought about it another day and decided not to get this particular one. The main reason is that I still have so much work to do on the games that I really don't need yet another project. I've also been looking at some of the info about these machines on-line, and mechanical stuff is not my strongest point. I already "fear" pinballs, so a juke would be even more challenging.
I also would need to rent a van to get the machine from the sellers place to my home
So, now I'm looking at the some model juke, but working. Found one for offer incl. guarantee and even brought home for the selling price.....wish me luck.

Just an FYI on this Jukebox. I have one as well and the Purple light is stock (it is actually a piece of colored plastic).
This is one of the best sounding Jukeboxes I have come across.
