Title: Playstation trackball
Post by: crc on June 26, 2003, 06:13:14 am
I would like to know if anyone has had any experience connecting the Playstation trackball (Nyko) with a PC for use with MAME.

I understand there are USB PS -> PC adaptors that should allow Playstation controllers to be used on the PC. Has anyone sucessfully used this combination, ie., the Playstation trackball and USB adaptor connected to a PC, and running as expected in MAME (or any other Windows applications for that matter).

If it's not possible for this set-up to work, has anyone ever tried to hack the Playstation trackball to allow it to work directly with the PC? Links to sites that might have a rough guide to doing this would be greatly appreciated; I've searched a few times myself, but turned up with nothing.

Thanks in advance for any useful tips or pointers.

I don't know about the electronics... I imagine it could be made to work.

But have you given it a good roll? Doesn't it IIRC roll like crap? So much so that almost any regular PC trackball (even the 2 dollar iball ones) would make for a better interface for MAME games?

Just my .02 cents... of course if you already have one in hand it couldn't hurt to try to get it to work (and I could be wrong about the quality of the roll/play)

*shrug*
