Title: New to site, looking for some feedback on Marquee
Post by: urge26 on February 18, 2009, 12:03:35 pm
New to the site, sat on the project arcade book for 2 years and finally decided to get started with the project.  The cab is going to be fighter themed (hence the Hadouken) and here is the first couple of mock-ups for the marquee.  I'd like to get some feedback from the community, I'm far from a graphic artist but I want something that looks professional.

I would lose all the logos, increase the size of "Hadouken," lose the line going up to the O in Hadouken, and leave more room at the top for the marquee retainer (or else you'll lose part of his face).

ya loose the logos.  What is that line in the middle?  You cant even really see Ryu cause of the gray.  Increase the font size and go from there.

Whoa.....Ryu's in there?!?

Yep, there he is....you're right.

I was going to mention the gray, but now that you've pointed out where Waldo is, I definitely agree.

LOSE THE GRAY.

Pretty badass!

Just lose the MAME logo.

ya now were talking.  If you want to keep the mame logo you need to blend it into the background that Blue just stands out to much.

Might just be the editor in me, but I'd still make the "Hadouken" smaller so it isn't so close to the edges.
Consider a light vignette as well - it will really help with the depth.
Good job and good luck!

I think it looks great. The MAME logo is perfect now, and I think it's a nice, brown marquee. Yahtzee would love it. ;D

The mame logo is much much better.  I would drop the size of the "Hadouken" and maybe put a small drop shadow on it.

But looks good.

thanks guys for all of the feedback, a ton of work left to do on the control panel (most likely based of Gatsu's designs, still need to get his permission) and Martijn's amazing Street Fighter cabinet.  Looking forward to documenting everything once I make my project announcement.

I posted it for people to use. So feel free. Just don't sell the design is all I ask. Keep it in the community!
