Title: Umapper feature request
Post by: Ummon on February 15, 2009, 05:15:33 am
I'm wondering if it might be possible, and easy, to make a version that would ignore trackball and spinner games?

Download the program called 'romlister'.

This program will take your mame.xml file (the list that gets built by mame to use as the 'all games' list), and allows you to create a new list filtering any number of criteria you need.  Once you use this program to build your custom list you can export the results to a mala compatible games list (.mlg).  Place it in your mala directory, and you are good to go.

Actually, I think what I want to do won't matter. The build of mame I use has a conflict between analog sticks and trackballs, favoring the former and excluding the latter if both are hooked up, and I was thinking maybe the umapper ignoring those games would help, but I think not, because the umapper only sets a particular type of map for the U360. It can't tell Windows to deactivate it or whatever in those cases....right?

you can propenty create a map to these games, but just programmring them "empty", so they wont work on these games?

You are correct.  The umapper plugin only applies maps.

Yeah, but I think it wouldn't fool the build of mame I'm using. How would a map be 'empty'?
