I think I have found a Tron cabinet that I'm going to go look at. He says the cabinet is in fair condition and the game play is good. He is asking $300 for it. Sounds reasonable to me. Is there anything on these cabinets that is prone to breaking that I really need to look at before buying one? Any insight would be helpful.

Water damage ..... if it's complete, working and NOT water damaged $300 is a good price.
Definitely take a good look at it.
In my opinion.... "repairs" are easy ..... cosmetics not so much. (as in side art and such)
I would guess one of the most common problems is broken joystick handles.
Of course which are now available thanks to RandyT.

The only mechanical problem I can think of off-hand is that they had alot of problems with the power supplies in them.
The art, and the Tron specific pieces (monitor shroud, black lights, etc...), are the big things with them.
Everything on them is replaceable....for a price.
The question is, how many things are you going to have to pay to replace, rather than just buying a restored/better condition one to start with?

What is a good total price to have in one of these machines after repairs?

If it needs artwork, you'll want to check out phoenixarcade.com - the best artwork you can get. The complete artwork package is $500 (which is a discount over individually purchased items).
