Hey all. With my first project now in it's final stages, I'm now wondering what to make my next undertaking. I've been thinking about making a cabinet that took up very little space, but still offered a full gambit of play options. It would ideally be mobile, have a large screen, and be playable by two (or more) players without much difficulty. One day, I saw one of those office computer monitor stands and thought, "say, wouldn't that be a cool thing to base a cabinet off of?"
So, long story short, I want to build a more modern cabinet now. Ideally, it would support 2 players with 7 buttons, trackballs, and other things to play a wide range of games. In addition, it would use a fairly large widescreen monitor that could be rotated 90 degrees for vertical games (maybe 30 inches or so.) Lastly, it would have to have a very small footprint and be easily moved. Does anyone know if someone has done something similar to this before, or if there are any good places to find stuff for this? (Rotating monitor stand, mobile computing stand, etc)

check this (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=88912.0) thread out in project announcements section
seems like you could easily add a second player and some trackballs maybe even a spinner!

Are you thinking something like the attached picture? We have a similar one in our data center but it's only monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Yeah, something like that. Do you know what brand it is, or whether or not the monitor can be rotated?

Don't go for rotating. It will drive you nuts and it probably won't look good. Especially if you plan on 30 inch. Vertical games were almost all on 19 inch screens, and the 30 inch delivers enough space for perfect 19 inch vertical screen estate. And 30 inch means 16:9 (don't go for the 2560x1600 computer screens) so 16:9 vertical looks crap anyway.

Is that a serious product or a rendering by some artist? Its pathetic! You don't want a table to roll around, and where do you put your feet? It's probably a sex tool for that blonde secretary that wants to be taken on the desk in various office corners.

Here is a link to the site I found. Just did a quick google search for wheeled computer stand

Always thought this was a sweet setup

Personally I would rather not have portable control pads, but the ideas of portable and folding away to a nice looking table goes with your idea of not taking up space.
