Hey guys. My wife is the crafty type, and she made me a set of Mario/Luigi dolls for Christmas. I wanted to see if there is an interest in you guys buying stuff like this - either these specific (which she made a pattern for) or new stuff. She's game for making anything crocheted - blankets, pillows, or plush doll stuff.
I'm also interested in what you think should be charged for things like this.
Any feedback is appreciated

more pix of the wife please, and what game is that behind her?
I'd be interested in a galaga blanket
-
I'd pay $10-15 for a little knit of the galaga ship that size. I would probably pay more for a good sized donkey kong. so it depends on the size but, I wouldn't charge more than $25. Now if you can get an arthur from Ghouls n' ghosts, Email me!! I can do postal money orders!
*Edit*
Didn't see the blankets and pillows part. A pac man scarf would be nice, as well as a megaman blanket to hang on a wall for decor. Blanets with pillows would be cool at $60-$75 IMO

If posting the full pic of the wife would lead to more sales, I would post here. It worked for Melissa at nice Carvings!! ;D Oh, and that is my Narc cabinet.
If anyone has custom ideas, send me an email (humphreya2 at yahoo.com)with the picture you want used as the design.
The quickest/easiest thing she told me to do is a 2/d pattern like pillows. She can make pillows very fast.

when i first read this topic i was thinking "why would i want a plush arcade cabinet" but the more i got to thinking about it a plush candy cab or cocktail would be really damn cool
I'd buy a couple

I don't think that would be possible really crocheted. Maybe if sewed out of fabric and iron on patches, but I don't know how well that would turn out. She can do that stuff too. I'll ask her about it.

true, hadn't really thought about that
though a mappy plush doll would be equally as awesome

only one way to find out ;)
oh and a Galaga ship pillow would work too

I would only be interested if I could get a Billy Mitchell plush doll with American Flag power tie and bottle of hot sauce!
-
Okay, I have some good info here to go on. It seems 2 of you are interested in a galaga ship shaped pillow. I'll show that one to her and get one made.

Careful, Nintendo is pretty rough on their brand trademarks/copyrights. If you start making money on their mario or whatever without a license, big N might go after you. Not all companies are quite as heavy as big N, but still not legal. :-\

Well then time to pull out the gold ol' Chinese copyright workaround:
Introducing the lovable plush dolls called...The Plumber Pals!

She likes this idea, as the mario pattern can be modified to make it. The question is, would you REALLY buy it?
And yes, my wife knows who Billy Mitchell is. ;)

Finished a Galaga Pillow this evening. It was difficult to come up with a pattern that kept the 'pixel' look according to the wife.
I am personally working on a Galaga afghan. Granny Squares lend themselves perfectly to pixel art afghans. The completed set will have a ship pillow, a bug pillow, and an afghan with a big ship and pillow. If anyone is interested in the set, or just a set of pillows, PM me.

that galaga pillow is tits! how much for one like that but square? (fill in the top black)

That was part of the dilemma on this pillow. I was debating for square, but she thought it would be neat to maintain a profile. It also has a black fabric lining for the stuffing. Didn't want white stuffing showing thru you know.
Anyways, she will be making a bug pillow today if she has time. Would you want a set, or just a ship pillow?
The other debate would be if you want it as a 'sham', or a sealed pillow. It can be made to where you can take the crocheted part off the pillow to wash it.
As for price, $20 for a single, and $35 for a 2 pillow set.

Those are sweet! Someone better send a link to mamemaster, he'll buy at least a half dozen of everything! :)

I figured he would chime in at some point. Maybe he could get us into the mailbag of gameroom magazine!

The Galaga pillow is nice but my personal opinion is it seems that the pillow is giving me the middle finger :). I'd have a preference for a standard square pillow but with the excellent galaga ship on it.
Note: shipping realities probably means I won't be a customer but I might. A few of these would look great in the man cave :).

U know what you should make
Is stools with arcade characters on them

which bug (captor galaga?)? and I'd prolly get a 2 pillow set (a square ship one is a definite) any chance the ship could be 2 sides? one white, the other "captured red" ?
Also, pic of the wife? win!

The bug is a front row red/yellow/blue guy. I was able to find a pretty good block pattern for him, and the colors are easy to match.
Making the ship 2-sided would be alot more work, but if you definitely want it that way, we could work something out.

Shardian - if you haven't yet, look at etsy.com as a place to market these as well.
-
I haven't looked into pricing yet over there, but will definitely set her up a page once she has some more patterns and examples.
EDIT:
Added unfinished 'square' front of pillow.

Very cool!!! Lot's of possibilities, moon patrol, and joust come to mind :P

M$ is offering free domain names (granted, they are your name.officelive.web, or some junk like that) but it's free domain registry, and I believe 500 MB of space for a year, with a 14.95 renewal offering..perhaps an intro Small Bus. site to set up and play around with.
