Title: IPAC, how to make a button doing a Shift action?

Yesterday, I finnally been able to try to connect my buttons to the IPac. So far, it works (well, still need to test second player!) but one thing really doesn't work (event in the WinIpac software). I have a "Escape" button. I thought I only had to have 2 wires, 1 to Start1 and 1 to Start2... I did the same thing with for Tab and for Enter... The problem is that when I press one of these button a lot of light on WinIpac open (P1 Down, P1 Left, P1 Start, P2 Start)!

How can I wire these button to have the desire action?

Edit:
I have the same problem with simulating the "Tab". So I guess I can't put multiple wire in the same hole like in this picture:

You see the idea? The Escape button simulate the press the Player 1 and Player 2. The problem is since I do this "trick" for multiple shift button, when I press the Escape button I have in the WinIpac a lot of button pressed : P1 Down, P1 Left, P1 Start and P2 Start. More, when I presse the button that is Player 1, I have other button that raise too. I think the electric signal is sent to the other button what ever the button is pressed. In the image above, if I would press the Player 1, it would raise the Player 2... you see... how can I fix that?

i'm not and expert never try it before, but just order my I Pac2 and do alot of reading.

I Think the 2B slot is for the esc button, I think you just have to wiring your button to this slot... see the information in the ultimarc webpage

This is what I have done for the moment. But I'll continue to search to be able to make more combinaison since now I have all Input used.  :)

I may be mistaken here, but...

To me it sounds like you are trying to wire up a 'shifted function', where as the idea of a shifted function is that you can use an existing used input to generate the function... in your case, escape.

So, escape is... hold P1 (shift) and press P2.

The same for the others. Program the shifted function in winipac and use P1 like you would a shift key on a keyboard, then press the secondary button.

you shouldn't need to put two wires into one terminal for any standard setup.

If you want escape on an individual physical button, you'll need connect it to a spare input on the ipac, and program it as escape.
