I cannot for the life of me make my layouts appear in any of my emulators. I'm trying to set it where each emulator displays a different layout, however when I choose the layout for said emulator, it doesn't show up correctly, only the fonts show up the way they should. No pictures or anything. I have my layouts in the layout folder, with each .mll file having its own dedicated folder. What am I doing wrong?
-
the .mll file goes in the mala folder your layouts go in a folder with the same name as your emulator
-
forgot to say put a tick in use layout names for directory names
now if your layout for mame is called mame.mll put the .mll file in mala folder and the mame layout in a folder called mame inside the mala folder, do the same for the others
-
I did what you said, made some layout folders with the same name as the folders my emulators are in and it still shows up blank, only text.
-
I already had it checked but it still doesn't work. How I have it set up is I have the .mll file in the main mala folder, while I have a layout folder in mala. In the layout folder is the names of all of my emulators, and in each folder is a folder with my layout inside it.
-
right take the folders out of the layout folder and put them straight in the mala folder and all should be swell ;D
-
you may need to reopen them in malalayout after you move them to change their absolute path
-
Took the folders out of the layout folder, still nothing,
-
Opened them up in malalayout and even then the background pictures won't even show up.
-
open them in malalayout and readd the background because it is looking for the background in the old place now resave your mll and now it should work
-
Readded everything twice and changed the directories, still nothing.
-
are the backgrounds in the actual folders or are you pulling them from somewhere else because they need to be in the folders and recheck the naming of the folders against emulators ie: if emu called M.A.M.E then folder has to be M.A.M.E and mll needs to be M.A.M.E.mll
you need
emu named Mame
folder in mala folder called Mame with background pic inside
mll file called Mame.mll in mala folder
and a tick in use layout names for directory names
check all this and it should work

Aha! So that was what was wrong. Another question though, what if I have two layouts for one emulator, how could I set that up?
-
aha which problem was it, just interested
and you would have to change the layouts manually to use 2
i would name 1 mame and the other mame2
then if you want to change you could just quickly add a 2 to the end of you emu name etc
-
Okay that's what I suspected I had to do. I had mispelled part of the name of the layout name.
-
glad its sorted
now play and be happy

Thank you so much for your help, I'm trying to get this front end as tight as possible so I can start mounting and wiring my coffee table/arcade cabinet this weekend.
