Yesterday I was lucky enough, to get 4 arcade cabinets for free....Guy was clearing out space and even offered 2 more cabs once he dug them out ;D Only one came with a monitor, all of them had Jamma harnesses mostly intact, and No PCB's but these will make good restoration projects. I scored a San Francisco Rush, A Dynamo, 4 Slot Neo Geo, and a Converted 4 player cab. Here are some pics. Unfortunately the Neo Geo was left outside at some point and suffered severe water damage :angry: But the good thing is that the credit displays and the memory card unit look undamaged I will test these soon. Although, it's not in the pics i do have the seat to go with SF Rush....

Wow! You lucky guy- those are some nice cabinets. I would love to score a SF Rush like that for making a generic driving cab! Congrats!!

Yea Sorry it's a violent storm cab. I called it a 4 player cab because it's the same size and I plan on re-drilling the holes to fit 4 players, I have an X men board along with Captain america and the avengers and TMNT...The only downside to this is like I said the Neo suffered terrible water damage. I'm considering rebuilding most of the cab but thats I project far far FAR down the road. I'll start on the Dynamo and Violent Storm cab first.

OK, hissy-boy, that's enough of your whining.
There are multiple free cabinets within a reasonable drive of where you are, you are just either too slow on the gun or want pictures or :blah: :blah: :blah:.
You're not dropping $$$$ on a minty Major Havoc here -- either get in the bloody car and go pick the *FREE* cabinet up or wait another 6 weeks for the next auction and pony up the whopping $25 for a hardware cab.

Violent Storm -- good find... I think that's the first
game I've seen that has the joysticks "angled"
vs straight for a multiplayer., or maybe I'm seeing
the photo wrong? Looks that way anyway.
Would be curious to see what you'll do overall
with restorations and/or mameing, and just
how much room you got!

Though it would be cheaper I have ABSOLUTELY NO intentions on Mameing any of the cabs. The main problem I have is trying to figure out which cab to work on first. I think I will get the Violent Storm cab up first...Then the Dynamo......I have room for 3 or 4 more cabs ( I'm up to 6 total)

course you can, where ya from? Bet I can find four and probably be freebies or $10-$20 a piece.

Not currently looking but finding cabinets in Austin was not easy or cheap both times I have looked. Seems like they are always in Dallas or Houston.

A little updat.....
The same guy gave me this Mortal Kombat cab in pretty fair shape. I little minor wood work, and T-Molding and she will be like new...I do however, plan on turning this into a UMK3 cab (that is my favorite MK in the series,) so this will be a long project onc I get head long into it. All in all I will need a monitor, PCB, side art, Marquee, and power supply, so it will get a little pricey but at least the cab was free ;D

Thats an old monitor I took off another dynamo I have...The tube is bad (green gun issue) so maybe one day I can get a rejuvenation done...I took the chassis off of it and put with a different monitor (also given to me by the same guy.) to go in the other cab.

Dang, where you located? I would love to buy that MK1 cabinet from you if you would part with it. I would like to build an MK1 to go with my dedicated MKII I already have... and it would save poor Johnny from being covered up, lol! I am in South Carolina. ;)

I bought my first cab (candy cab nonetheless) from someone in Austin off of Craigslist for $850 and sold it a year later for $1600. I don't think a 2.5 hour drive is too far if you're really having problems getting what you want. ..you're right though about tons of cheap deals in Houston.

Considering the lack of arcades we had in Austin, it doesn't surprise me. I almost got Guilty Gear XX when Le Fun went out of business, but then some operator outbid me by $200. :banghead:

*update* Since I last posted I brought a golden tee 3d and NFL Blitz 2000 cabs. I stripped the water damaged 4 slot neo of the complete harness and coin door, and junked it. The Violent storm works and has TMNT in it with Captain America and X men. The red dynamo is still sitting until I get a monitor and some extra part......Pics coming soon.

If the sideart is in good condition....could you possibly scan it before you cover it up with the MK3 artwork?

he never said he was painting over the side art. all he hasta do is drill or a hole for the run button, or buy a MK3/UMK3 CP top. my UMK3 has Raiden on the side (its also my MKII cab :p )

Not to upset anyone BUT I HATE THE MK1 sideart and when I raise more funds lol I plan on getting MK3 art....
Gatsu if you explain how to scan the side art I will GLADLY help you out.... :cheers:
From what I see the side art is in very good shape except for very MINOR blemishes..I'll post pics.

it can be kind of a slow process depending on how you've got your computer setup.
basically if you have a scanner, just hold it up to the side of the cab and scan a piece at a time at around 600dpi. Send me the pieces....and I can clean them up and reassemble them to be full side art.
the reason I wanna do this is because there is no record of the MK1 sideart for people to get reprinted through Mame marquees. I started painting one from some hires photos....but its not turning out how it needs to. So the next best thing is to scan someones cab by hand and reassemble the pieces.

It would be skewed and not proportioned correctly like a scan that is put together from many smaller scans from a flatbed scanner.

If someone could get even one side scanned correctly, since usually one side on most older cabs has significant fading from their position near sunlight, then you could always flip the image horizontally using software to get the other side... you would, however, have to cut and paste the "Midway" logo so it wouldn't be backwards, but at least it's not OVER any of the artwork, so it's an easy enough process. I would love to see someone get a good scan done myself. :laugh:

Like I said....if someone can provide a good quality scan....I'm more than willing to piece it together and clean it up digitally.
That way the community can have access to it.
But no scans yet. I've gotten some photos...but they don't work as well.
