Check that out.
It's extremely impressive. But I want this game emulated NOW! I've never seen it before!

OWWWWW.
OWWWWWW....my wrists are hurting just looking at it...ps: that guy moves his hands faster than I can even see....
..and talk about your low-lifespan buttons!!!
-
man, that looks like my type of game!!
-
Woah that is unbelievable! I got a nose bleed watching it. That guy is a total freak.
-
Is that game just a piano type thingy?
Each big button a different note?
If they did emulate it, it would be nice to hack an old keyboard, this way you'd learn to play a few songs, while you play.
-
Wow, all that talent and he still can't get a date. Boggles the mind really. I bet his weekend friction burns are pure murder.

That is sweet. I wish I knew what it was called.

Sure does seem like it huh? looks like a real cool game. Ya know I don't know the first thing about programming, but that seems doable...for a novice I mean.
Anyway... Cool find Odonadon

Looks like an intricate DDR-type game for your hands. Only more buttons. Fun looking, though.
OT: after reading some of these messages it's really tough not to crack some boongaboonga jokes... :)
-
Somebody knows how to make learning playing the piano fun. All they need to do is add a running musical score on the side with a line marking the same as the bottom line in the real play (maybe color the notes to match the colors of the normal play). On the higher levels, the normal playing field could shrink and the musical score get bigger, forcing the players to learn to read notes.
Not that I know anything about playing music; I think the above is the only way to get me to learn. ;)
-
WTF!
That guy was surely under the 'mdma' effects! ;D
Not for me!
I'll just keep my 1941! ;D
-
Thats got to be speed up like 4x right :o
-
That's what I'm talking about. Are you all crazy. People can't move that fast. You'all have been watching too many live action comic book movies. It's in fast-forward mode.
Still, cool looking game.
-
link is bad for me.
-
Right click the link and click "save target as" and download the video that way.
-
That is insane ... I had to watch it 3 times before I figured out what the HELL was going on.
Maybe I better watch it again ....
MM
-
Actually, maybe it's not in fast motion. If you watch the video screen next to the one he's playing the images seem to fade in and out at normal speed. It's hard to say how fast they're supposed to fade in and out, though, so I still suspect fast motion.
Otherwise that guy is a genius.

Hey big O
Here is a pic of the cab (http://allsoft.scei.co.jp/title.zolar)
Looks like the same game to me.
If you go to and search for Pop 'n Music (http://www.gamefaqs.com) it shows which consoles it was on. Unfortunely the were only one japanese consoles.
I read something while searching that it was coming out for the xbox in the fall. I can't find that now though, so don't qoute me.
-
If DDR is any indicaton, people most certainly do move that fast (and faster if you've aver seen anyone pass legend of max on heavy.)

The cab pic doesn't work. Dammit :)

Dang
It ustadid.
Well, thats the name of the game. I am kicking myself now for not getting that japanese dreamcast that I had a line on. Oh well.
-
It's not sped up... Look at the reflections of people walking by in the game beside that one at around 40 seconds... (Or just watch the game next to it...) It's all real-time.
What are you guys talking about "people can't move that fast"?
Have you never seen a profesional pianist playing a fast song?
Besides, just watch some of the "Dance Dance Fever Shake Your Butt" junkies at the local arcades... I used to think no one could really get very far in those things, but it's actually kinda cool to watch a person do (when they can do it well.) I've actually seen a couple of people dance in circles on each other's pads getting 100% everytime...
Anyhow, that kid needs a new hobby... Pounding the crap out of a bunch of buttons on an arcade machine isn't... Oh... wait... That's exactly why we're all here... uh... never mind... ;)
-
I hate to burst yalls bubble, but I'm pretty sure it's been spead up. Check the scanning going on in the game next to it. *Most* rolling lines go MUCH slower than that. If they go any faster they start to make the image flicker entirely. Instead there is a fast steady scroll. I'm pretty sure it's a fake.

hmmm, the scan/refresh thing depends on what framerate your camcorder is recording at, and also the actual refresh rate of the monitor...
i don't think it has been sped up (remember, the japanese are damn crazy when it comes to arcade/computer games)

It's definetely not been sped up. The music plays at the right speed. And I'm pretty sure I could play that fast with enough practice.
It looks like damn fun, though.

Oh it has music? I didn't have speakers at work. Couldn't tell... That would have given it away...
-
ddr freaks are faster with their feet.
-
He must be one of those Japanese prodigy's that's been taking classical piano since he's three!! That was pretty cool.
I would think you'd be able to learn the song just like you could on a piano. I can't imagine someone could play a song that fast cold turkey (but you never know - freaks!!) Knowing generally what's coming next could sure help you go faster as well as, knowing what kind of moves you need to pull off. I suspect he's dropped alot of Yen into that game!
-
Oh my .....
That guy should be on 30 seconds to fame or something :)
edit:
now that i look at it again, it looks like a girl
-
Is that Beatmania??? It looks so close, but a little different. I've never seen a cab, I only played it emulated.
Oh and project number two is building a panel to be able to play beatmania - two player layout, three white two black keys each player, and a "turntable scratch" button.
If I can find some songs for it that aren't j-pop remixes of anime themes.
-
It's Pop'n Bounce! generic_eric is right. It's out for PSX in Japan and it's released by Sony, so I'd guess we won't see it on any other systems.

I'm pretty sure that's real time. People do play that fast. Anyone ever seen Superplays? It's a DVD they put out in Japan of people doing crazy things in video games. Most of it is unbelievable, but it's all legit. Sometimes watching players is impressive. I always like watching the Tetris Finals for example:

-
Yeah, go onto kazaa and do a video search for ddr.

pop n music dreamcast contorlller/game (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3539998691&category=41054) (yes it's an import -- but you wouldn't let that stop you, eh?)

dammit is right! rampy, now I gotta find out how to mod my DC to play imports, find this game, find a controller, and work the DC into my cab.
I'm probably not gonna bother with it, but man will the possibilities ever end?
On a similar note, anyone ever play Gotcha in mame? Kinda similar to this PopnMusic, but only 3 buttons and no where near as hard, but still button slappin fun.

FWIW nobody bought it.... but the shipping was outragous overseas style...
I noticed this one pop n' music controller and game (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3037962110&category=15116&rd=1)
it's in the UK and maybe it'll go for much lower than the other one...
regarding moding your dc... I believe worse case scenario there is a "utopia boot disc" that lets you play imports (you put in the boot disk and then swap in the import disc you want to play, from what I understand)
