Title: Why is my spinner out of control?
Post by: shatter on February 07, 2009, 02:15:46 pm
Hi,

I have a TT2 spinner in my control panel connected via USB port running as the mouse z-axis. I am using a GGG trackball as the mouse x and y-axis. I am trying to get my system configured for tempest without any luck.

Things work smoothly when configured for the trackball but when I try to use the spinner, control is very erratic. Incredibly small and slow movements of the spinner are required to have any control at all. Anything above that results in wild movements. I have the wheel (z-axis) in windows set to 1 line of movement per click and I am using Mala as my front end.

I have tried adjusting the analog controls (dial digital speed and sensitivity) without seeing any changes in the controls using the spinner.

Any ideas at this point?

Thanks,
Chad

See if hooking your TT2 spinner up to the x or y axis fixes things.  There is a special .diff file that's floating around somewhere that you have to apply and recompile mame yourself in order to use the Z axis for mame games.  I've been applying the diff to mine and it appears to be working fine (mame .129)

EDIT:  Found the link to the thread pertaining Z-Axis .diff file (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=75693.msg800467#msg800467)

Thank you! Thank you!!!!! I recompiled mame using HeadKaze's compiler and using the patched code from u_rebelscum and everything works slick in mame now!!

I am incredibly happy now!!

Thanks,
Chad
