I don't have a 360, just an original XBox and was wondering if you can play 360 games off of the 360 hard drive like you can on the original XBox? Thanks.

on the 360, you can install some games to the hard drive, but it still requires you to have the dvd in the drive to prove you own it.
as for a modded 360, i have no idea. i love my modded xboxes, but i havent tried modding my 360.

As mentioned, you can play games off of the Xbox 360 hard drive, but only if the game disc is in the tray.
On a modded 360, you can play burned games on disc, but there is no way to load a game directly (and only) from the hard drive.

So, on a modded 360, can you load a burned game to the hard drive and then play it as long as you have the burned game disc in the tray?
And how do you go about transfering the game from the disc to the hard drive? Via the Xbox 360 Dashboard?

They weren't referring to burned games.

i dont know if you can install burnt games to teh hd or not. I was talking about real game discs in an unmodified console. there is an option in the xbox 360 dashboard to install the game to the HD, but like i said, you still have to put that game disc in to play it, it just uses the disc to verify that you actually have the game. modding xboxes was really easy and awesome...it seems to me that the 360 mod situation is still crappy at best.

Seems that if you can play burned games from the disc, you should in theory be able to load the burned game to the 360 hard drive and play it off that as long as you have a copy of the game in the drive tray.

Yup that'd be my guess. If the burned copy is running to begin with, there should be no reason that you can't load it to the hdd via the dashboard. I really like the install to hdd feature as it does speed up quite a few games, and at the very least quiets down the system substantially. I usually have the top 3 or 4 games that I'm playing at the time on my drive.
