Title: Tough decision...
Post by: Steelhorse on February 04, 2009, 07:27:25 pm
I have an issue here. As this being my first Home built arcade machine  :banghead:

I was about to pull the trigger on a monitor for my project. A WG D9800 and I noticed on the local CL there was a Gateway DL36 in the electronics for $100 anyone think the gateway might play off better then the True Arcade monitor?

thoughts ?

I had my hands on a Gateway DL36 and played some Mame on it.  It worked very nice especially having the VGA connector.  I really liked the curved screen as well.

But it is really big and very heavy.  Seems like it was over 150 lbs.  In the right set up it would make for a nice monitor.  I decided I did not want something that big and let it go to Craigslist.

If you have the room I'd say go for it.

There's size and authenticity in question. Monitor wiki will address the latter.

Thaks for the input. I ended up picking it up cheap and i will be building a showcase cab instead of a standard arcade cab. with 218 lbs of monitor this should be interesting...
