Has anyone compared the differences? Anyone pay for the ULTIMATE? Worth it?
-
I had a marquee printed with them and did get the Ultimate. I'm VERY pleased with the results. That being said, I've never seen the premium product, so I have no basis of comparison. But for $10 extra, you get a very good quality marquee and when backlit, just looks awesome. I can't recommend them enough.

The marquee is not a sticker correct? More like a plastic or something?
-
The marquee is not a sticker. It is printed on a very durable material that is like a cross between vinyl and plastic. I cannot recommend them enough. I always go for the "ultimate" version because $10 is like a drop in the bucket in the long run for these projects.

From the FAQ:
The PREMIUM marquee is the same award winning material that we have been printing on for over 3 years. It is is a special photo paper that has no paper grain, so it back lights great. It uses a UV dye ink that is rated for 10yr.
The new ULTIMATE Marquee is for people who want it all! They are printed on the same type of back light material that you would find on today’s arcades and then laminated with a texured laminate for a great finish. The Ultimate is printed on a true backlit film and uses 100-200 yr pigment ink.

Cool.
Guess I drop the extra 10 and be done with it.
Thanks.

I know when printing photos that my dye printer kicks the pigment one for the amount of wow that the image gets because it has a much greater gamut - is there any published details on how much if any you are losing going for the pigment printing on the ultimate?
-
I have both. While the premium is good stuff, the Ultimate is the way to go. Trust me.

Cool.

I would go with Ultimate all the way. That's what I used and I was REALLY impressed with the quality and sturdiness of it. The texture was great and looked very professional.
If you want to get a better idea of how it looks, take a look at my video. Although I don't show a close-up of it, you can still see the thickness/consistency of it in the video.
