I'm trying to use the built in jukebox in mala but have been having some issues with it.
My music shows up fine which consists of multiple folders all being stored on a network drive. The problem is that when I select "play all files" it doesn't do anything and if something is already playing it stops the current song and restarts it.
Basically I would like it to play all songs in all folders (shuffled) and be able to go to the next song via a button.
The only way I have been able to do what I want is to add all the songs in the options menu (music tab) but if I go to a different screen/emu the list is gone and only one song will play.

Yeah, It does not look at subfolders at the moment
-
Does that mean it will have issues and I should remove all folders? Or does that mean it wont play sub folders?
Is album art on the feature wish list already (specifically reading from the mp3 file as opposed to a folder file)?

It will only play from the opened folder (that you are in at the time)

How is this done. I might be behind the times but are you saying mp3's can contain graphics these days?
-
I'm not sure exactly how it's done but a lot of mp3 players now support built in album art (it might be part of the mp3 standard).
I use mp3tag to add it to my mp3's.

This site might have more info for you as well.

So if you made a player that can read ID3 tags then you just boosted the functionality of the jukebox program:D

very interesting.

I'll beta test it for you:p

Yeah - album art (a jpg or png of the front of the cd cover) is a popular feature on jukeboxes. It's attractive as well as useful for navigating albums (if you're like me - you'll remember the cd cover more than the cd name). Normally, you'd name your album artwork 'folder.jpg', 'folder.png', 'album.jpg' or 'album.png' and place it inside the album folder. When you are scrolling down (slowly) your list of albums in the jukebox you can see the corresponding album artwork in a 'image box' to the right or left of the album list. The jpg / png may need to be resized to fit in the 'image box'. Let me say that i've never used Mala - so i'm speculating from what i'm used to in GameEx. I'm thinking about giving Mala a try and i was wondering about Mala's jukebox capability (how good is it type thing?). I think a good jukebox is more or less an essential in a frontend.

What I'm referring to is slightly different. In your scenario you have to have all your music in separate folders. What I'm referring to is an mp3 that has it's album art embedded in the mp3 itself.
That allows you to have all your music in one folder and still be able to see album art for every song.

I see what you mean (i think iTunes does this). Does the jukebox in Mala already do what i've described above ? And does it support playlists (sounds silly i know but i had to ask) ?
:)

Um, they've been encoding album art onto CDs since the 80s. Look in your 'my music' folder and all your folders within will show the album art if you have something like 'show image' for each folder, though for the life of me I can't find where that option is. Anyways, I'd guess a player would be coded to look for and use the same files. WMP does.
Now I have a simple question about the juke in MaLa: how do you stop a song outside of just changing emulator lists (or starting another track) ?

hmm
The only ways I know are
1) The method you describe
2) Via the options tag
3) Via a plugin
How ideally would you want to do it?
-
you can't assign a button to do it?

you can't assign a button to do it?
At the moment fro music you can only assign a button to:
Previous Song.
Next Song - Which will start music too
No Stop..............
Will add if enough demand if someone reminds me later :P
