I just bought an Ipod touch, 8gb, second gen. I assumed it would power up to the main screen. It looks as though it has power.
There is only a picture of a USB cable connecting to Itunes. Do you have to install Itunes to get the ipod to work?
Do the ipods come with firmware already loaded on them?
I have been unable to find a guide to state how to get this thing working.

well its not unlike an iphone so ill say , you need to sync it with itunes, its a condition of purchase with the iphone that it will not work until sync'd and given an id, you probably need an itunes account too.

I got my wife one for Christmas... It worked great until iTunes suggested an available firmware update, and I installed it. That locked it into that USB screen you're getting. I tried a bunch of stuff I read on forums to reset it without any luck.
One of the suggestions seemed totally corny... Install iTunes on another PC and plug the iPod into that. For some reason, that worked. I put the iPond back on the original computer (hers) and it has worked fine ever since.

I got itunes to install on a friends computer as my work laptop block itunes. Is there a way to see if you are synced to itunes? Do you have to have some sort of itunes account to connect to the apple website?
