Title: PLZ help ASAP. Ipac 4 won't allow new keys to be added.
Post by: vetteguy112233 on January 31, 2009, 07:04:05 pm
I just added 2 more buttons to my 2 player cab. It had 5 per player before, so now it's 6. The 2 that I just added are both NEW Happ/microswitch. I open WinIpac and push the buttons, all previous ones work, but when I go to layout designer, add the 6th button to each player and then try to program it to a key, NOTHING HAPPENS! I checked continuity between the grounds and the wire going to the IPAC4 and all is good, so I know it's wired properly and grounded properly. I've switched wires from working buttons and they work. I just can't add NEW ones. The new buttons are going to P1SW6 and P2SW6.

Upon startup of the PC, the IPAC4 LED does not blink to indicate a problem, it instantly goes green.

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

I just touched my multimeter to the ground on IPAC and each ground on the microswitches and EVERY one beeped, so I know my ground is good to each one.

I also did the same thing to the other wire and the correct spot on the IPAC and again each one beeped.

I then tested the NO and GRD of each microswitch. When the button was pressed, the multimeter beeped, when it was let go, NO BEEP!

Should I assume my Ipac4 had bad spots?

The layout designer is for positioning controls etc on the panel. You would need to go into the keycode assignments to assign codes. Can you go into table view and check the necessary codes are assigned to those buttons?

FIXED - It has been a few months since I setup my original buttons. I was pressing the button on the CONTROL PANEL, instead of assigning it a keyboard button. Once I assigned it the correct keyboard key and pressed "PROGRAM" everything works properly.

Thanks Andy!
