I'm downloading a video snap pack and I'm trying to figure out how to set it up. The first confusing part is that it contains multiple folders (hq, hq horizantal, hq vertical, and full and cropped artwork, as well as sq horizantal, sq vertical etc).
I've set the video directory to point to the video snaps folders but it isn't working.
I'm using a layout (it was posted in another a thread, I'll post a link to it later if you guys need it) that supports video snaps but I can't figure out how to get them to play.

No one uses video snaps here?

HQ= High Quality (640x480) If I remember well.
SQ= Standart (or Simple) Quality (320x240???)
Horizontal= for cab that have horizontal monitor
Vertical= for cabs with verticarl monitor
Full Artwork= for games that have bezel, background, etc...
Crop= the same above but the images are cropped to the games display size.
So, point your video directory to one of them (normally horizontal sq).
PD. for video snaps use the SQ videos. If you want to show the videos fullscreen (with the screensaver options, for example), use the HQ videos.

I figured out what it was:o
It turns out I needed a video codec installed, I've been so spoiled by VLC that I haven't installed video codecs in years.

I think I am going to do away with the split up MAME video set and just continue on with a merged set going forward. At this point I think it only benifited Mamewah in stretch mode and it's just making it too confusing and big. This will change with the .129 release from EmuMovies.

I'm currently in the process of trying my luck with Mala and using video snaps - didn't realize there was already many people doing this - its amazing what you can find on Youtube and Google and here haha. So just wanted to say thanks Circo and others for the hard work with video snaps.

On the new Emumovies ftp site, the mame .128 HQ video set is combined into one folder containing all videos for the set.
This unfortunatley appears to have caused a slight problem with the ftp server as many servers operate a 2000 file maximum directory listing (1998 files plus the two directory entries '.' and '..').
Any files after this limit are not returned to the ftp client and are not accessible. only files 005.avi to mjdchuka.avi are listed, everything else is over the 2000 (1998 files +dir entries '.' & '..') and not accesible.
I believe it to be a server side limit as when you put FileZilla in debug mode and ask it to output raw directory listing, it will only list the first 1998 files there too, and FileZilla has no such limit as I am aware.
See my previous post here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=89179.msg937710#msg937710 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=89179.msg937710#msg937710)
Are any emumovies subscribers seeing this behaviour? Or is it just me being daft?

Why not use the bit torrent options? I would imagine it would put less stress on their servers and if you wanted to you could still donate to them;)

I am fixing that Mame directory problem as I type this :)
