Hello, all.
Had big plans to make my own cabinet last summer, but a lack of funds and the intimidation of woodworking ended up getting in the way. The plan was to make a 4-player setup, I even bought a big 27-inch CRT to use in the cabinet.
Fast forward to today, I found this beauty sitting in the rain in an alleyway amongst trashcans. I'm really not to sure what it was originally, and I'm sort of thinking it could be a home-built cab? If anyone a bit more versed than I in teh cabinets is willing to shine some light on this, it would be appreciated.
I don't have a measuring tape handy, but I don't really think the TV I bought will fit in this thing. It would be amazing if that ends up working, but the cabinet is pretty small. I will more than likely end up building a 2 person control panel.
The plan is to take pictures and keep updating as I get work done. First up on the list is to clean this thing up and sand er down. I've learned tons just lurking this forum, looking forward to getting started on this project!

Am I the only one who thinks the graffiti "sideart" on this thing looks really cool?
Does the other side "match"?
Eric.

No, you're not the only one. I kinda like it too. I actually thought that it was supposed to look like that at 1st glance ;D

Keeping it like that has definitely crossed my mind, and isn't entirely out of the picture. Especially since I'm going to attempt to make this a low-budget build and had no side-art in mind yet at all. Though the wood is pretty rough around the edges, might be hard to keep the paint as is while attempting to fix it up.
The other side is not painted to match, but that doesn't matter TOO much since it will likely stay close to that wall there.
I've since removed the T-molding and just done some general cleanup.

I started disassembling the TV that I'd like to put in this thing.
It might barely squeeze into there, though I'd more than likely have to do some trimming. I think the viewing distance this thing needs might require a larger control panel than what the cabinet probably had originally. So if I use it I'll probably turn this into a 4p cab.
Now I need to figure out how I would even mount this in there. Though I've read that the precautions and work necessary to make a caseless CRT safe might not be worth it. Has anyone out there successfully done this?
