Title: Tmolding on Street Fighter IV tournament stick
Post by: atxscarface on January 28, 2009, 08:48:28 pm
Does anybody know where to get the red trimming that surrounds the overlay on the new SF IV Tournament Stick? Is that TMolding?

Its not t-molding, its a molded piece of plastic that has a slight recess on the inside edge for the plexi to lay in:

I'm on the lookout for something like that as well. If you find something, hit me up with a PM.

Ehh, you're not going to find something custom like that out there.  You would need to make that yourself using a piece of red plexi and a router (or ideally, a CNC machine).

crap. Like finding red plexi is gonna be even easier.

I can just imagine the glossed-over looks of the Lowes employees as I ask them about the mythical animal "Red Plexi".  :laugh2:

You could probably cut some wood and use a router to round out the edges to make it look like that.

Yeah, you're not going to find that at Lowes...  but it is available.

I'm gonna be building that kind of case for someone here on the forum, so I'll have to figure something up.

I think the wood option will work. I'll experiment this weekend.

The hardest part of that case is gonna be the angles that the front and sides have. It'll take some magical sawing. What I might try is putting the box together first, then run the sides and front over the table saw to get those neato angles.

Not sure where you are located Gatsu, but www.usplastics.com has all sorts of acrylic at reasonable prices, including red sheets.

Spoke to Regal Plastics and they seem to accomodate any project but you would of course have to have measurements or a prototype to copy from. He said if they need any new tools to do the job you ask for they would have to charge for those tools. Im just needing a simple cut out of a control panel. I doubt any special tools will be needed or at least tools they dont already have.

you could hunt down a red kitchen cutting board if you don't mind acrylic instead.

thats a damn good idea NickG. I didn't even think of that!

Or well could just get a white one and try to paint it with some Krylon Fusion. That stuff is magical.

I'll have to try that on the prototype.
