Title: Converting an existing cabinet into a Mame cabinet...questions
Post by: journeyfan1977 on January 27, 2009, 12:25:26 am
What is required to take an existing cabinet and convert it to a Mame? I'm on the look out for a cabinet with a 25"-27" monitor (working)
I'm new to this and don't know what to get. Do I need an I-PAC, J-PAC, OPTI-PAC to hook up the buttons/joysticks to my computer? Has anyone done this with
an existing cabinet (with a working monitor)? Also, if I can find a cab with a working monitor, what do I need to connect it to my PC? An Arcade VGA thingy?
Do more modern monitors like Mortal Kombat run at 15khz? I know nothing about this stuff and need advice.

Thanks!
-Keith

if you are looking to convert, then look for a JAMMA cab. then you can use a J-PAC and plug your pc straight in. more or less. from the maker:

and we are all going to tell you this- don't be converting an old classic (basically most pre-jamma cabs). not if you want to keep any friends here  :D
