Title: Dumb Question
Post by: SafTguY on January 15, 2009, 04:05:31 pm
Quick one for the experts -

Is there a wire length limit for controls before you start getting delays or anything?

Here's why - I'm designing a small cab for the kids and I have half a dozen plug and play TV games that I'd like to pull to a single, switchable control panel using a 25-pin switch box. (soldering wires to the controls in the game  - running to the 6 to 1 switch box and then to a quick control panel with happ microswitch sticks and buttons.)

Before I start tearing up games and ordering bottons and such - does this sound feasible? Or will I have issues with it? I just want to give the kids something that it won't really matter if they tear it up (keep them off my machine - lol) and get some use out of these plug n plays that are gathering dust...

I couldnt see it being an issue, rather you than me soldering and trying to keep track of all those wires :notworthy:

lol - hence the 25-pin cables.

I figure if I can draw a map template of where all the wires are in relation to the pins, I should be OK right?...Right?

First -- welcome.

Second -- not in the lengths that you are looking at.

Third -- this may be of interest:
